Extremely short notice, but I thought I would try.
"Lift Every Voice" (except anyone else's) is having a rally to celebrate their new initiative for a new assault weapon ban and managaine limit (2 separate bills). A bunch of us plan on going not so much to protest, as to try and start a conversation (hard to do online when the ban people left and right).
Event starts at 6, but I may leave earlier.

If anyone is interested, let me know and perhaps we can carpool?

Note: This was a radio broadcast from a few days ago. If you listen to it, I think it becomes clear what they fear the most: honest discussion. Their 'lawyer' has a hard time describing what an assault weapon is. Even going so far as to call the "accessories" something that makes the guns too accurate and more deadly. Excuse me, but for hunting, self-defense, target practice, don't you want something that is accurate? Why would someone purposely make their firearm LESS accurate. If you ask a chef what is more dangerou; a sharp or dull knife, what is their answer?

Anyways, the priest then goes into talk about how 'wonderful' it is that all these kids are getting involved because they are AFRAID. i.e. fear is driving most of their support.

What is the best weapon against fear and imagination? Education.

They don't want an honest public debate because they know it will seriously erode their support. LIsten to the audio, and I think it becomes clear what kind of language they speak, their weaknesses, and how to counter them for the good of society.
