From watching them decline to hear a number of 2nd Amendment cases I believe that they are thinking that firearm regulations are a state issue with each state having the power to make rules for their state. This is as long as they do not go so far as to ban all firearm ownership or even handgun ownership which was the main issue in Heller. Since Heller, they have pretty much left the state rulings in place. This is a good thing for people in some states and bad for those in other restrictive states.
