Won't be able to make it myself.
Thinking about it today, they will most likely repeat the IP43 tag line " When the AQB went into effect, mass shootings went down. And when it expired, they went up". Sometimes quoted as something like a decrease by 40%, followed by an increase of 200%.
The problem for them is that while that is true, mass shootings with non-"assault weapons" were not only 3-4 times as frequent, but followed the same trend. Never mind crime in general was decreasing as well.
So how did the law affect the non-assault weapon mass shootings the same way?
It's like if people kept getting news reports of cat attacks on the news. "Help us, we need to do something!". So someone proposes a 10 year ban on cats. "oh look!, animal attacks dropped when the ban was in place", they will say. But neglecting to tell anyone that dog attacks (not affected by the ban) were 3-4 times more prevalent, and followed a nearly identical decrease and increase. If the ban was against cats, how did all other types of animal attacks follow the same pettern?
