An interesting statement. In past elections the choice has usually been the lesser of two evils. Most people I know from AZ thought McCain was a "sell out", but voted for him any way. Palin's qualifications for the white house certainly exceeded what we have there now. The leftest media killed her......Palin as VP... I'm sure you would have rather had Bidden.
Personally I cast my vote on record, not promises, I guess that's why I'm disappointed in the system.:s0154:

Jack...

I will say I voted for the greater of two evils in 2008. The voting for the lesser seemed to not have worked, and I wanted a shock that would wake American up, so I voted for Bwana Obama. That was my mistake. Though I voted for Gary Johnson in 2012. I am sick and tired of the two parties. I am pretty sure you guys in the Northwest can agree with me on this, that we have no say in primaries. The decision has been made before it gets to us, and I will say that Mitt Romney would have been better by light years than Obama, but he still wasn't what we needed. We need someone who isn't afraid of not getting re-elected that can hold a broom and a mop and go clean that mess up.

I think we all need to remember the leftist media's mantra during the '08 election concerning Palin.
That "heartbeat away from the presidency" statement.

Then apply it to joe biden's statements and performances in the last 4 + years.

I don't know about you guys, but Sarah looks and sounds a helluva lot smarter than that idiot that resides in the VP's residence currently!

Her real undoing in '08 was her lack of insidership with the D.C. crowd, which was a positive for me.

It cracks me up when she gets trampled by those that claim they are sick and tired of corrupt, crony-capitalists and lobbyist wh0res, and who then voted for obama, a product of the totally corrupt socialistic Chicago political machine,... while still bashing her.

We all want "citizen representatives" until we actually have a chance to vote one in, and then we believe the corporate media when they portray that candidate as unsuitable.
We have no way of knowing what/how much footage of ANY interview ended up on the editing room floor at the alphabet networks, and we never will.

In '08, I voted for Sarah not McCain, and would do it again. Although I think her best fit initially would be Secretary of the Interior.

As far as her leaving office prematurely, if Alaska had laws on their books that allowed the state to help pay for legal defense for its office holders, she would most likely still be there. They didn't when she left office, as she was being financially crushed by the cost of defending herself against hundreds of lawsuits directed at her, over things she did/signed as a sitting governor.
If you check, you will find that most of them were dropped not long after she left office,...
Because that's what they intended to do.
It never was about her and her accomplishments. It was about driving her from office financially.

It's my understanding that they have since changed that.
Too little, too late.

It's good that the OP named this thread the way (s)he did, as the haters sure have shown up.

After what Sarah did to the political corruption in Alaska, it sounds like what you REALLY wanted, was her all along.

But you let the media talk you out of it.
Too bad.
But hey, it's not like you are alone in that boat. The majority of voters were duped the same way.

If I would have had the guarantee that McCain would have dropped dead and she would have been in charge... I would have voted for her in a nanosecond based on that criteria. However I think Palin was a poor choice, and more importantly it was a choice made to counter a black man. McCain and the publican party could no have come across more racist if they had tried.

You believe it was racism because so much of the media preached, and continue to preach that it was the reason.

I don't believe that and never did. It had NO bearing on how or why I voted that way, and I refuse(d) to let the media guilt me or belittle me into seeing it that way.
McCain had no record of racism and neither did Sarah.

Are there racists in America? Sure.
Are there misogynists in America? Of course.
Will the media attack me as a misogynist if I campaign/donate/vote against Hillary in 2016?
You betcherass they will.
AND THAT NOTION IS LUDICROUS!
But they refused to even consider it with Sarah Palin!

Regardless of whether or not McCain dropped dead, the choice was this:
To have a lifetime member of the NRA and believer in the RTKBA, and corruption busting former governor devoid of D.C. insider cronyism influencing the president from the office of VP.
OR:
The guy that claims; "I wrote the assault weapons ban" and lifetime WA D.C. political hack and lobbyist wh0re in the office of VP influencing the prez.

When you make your choice(s) based on their record(s), instead of what the media chooses to tell you about them, it becomes much more straight forward, easier and WAAAYYYY more logical.

Errr... Reports of Palin abusing her authority is what ultimately led to her not finishing her term as governor (regardless of what the news said). Also the infamous "hack" of her yahoo email account in which she was conducting official state business from is yet another reason I say she lacks intelligence. Sorry, but you don't do business correspondence via a gmail or yahoo account. That is in poor taste and completely against the rules of any company I have ever worked for. Plus I am fairly sure the state has rules about that as well.

Of course we are now left with Bwana Obama. The choices we have had for the last two elections were crap and poop...

I don't know where you got your info about why she left office, but it wasn't "abuse of power" centered around "troopergate" or any thing else.

Alaska Public Safety Commissioner dismissal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On October 10, 2008, the twelve-member Alaska Legislative Council voted unanimously to release, without endorsing, the Branchflower investigative report, which found Palin had violated the ethics law covering state executive employees.[2] The Branchflower report did not recommend a criminal investigation or sanctions.[3] Under Alaska law, the state's Personnel Board, not the Legislature, decides whether a Governor has violated the ethics laws.[3] On November 3, 2008, the bi-partisan Alaska State Personnel Board released the findings of its own investigation which concluded that Palin did not violate any ethics laws.[4][5][6][7]
She left office because she couldn't afford to continue to hold it, as her salary wouldn't cover her legal expenses.
And although she probably had some campaign money left over, it's not legal to use those funds for legal defense.

FNC Highlights Baseless Lawsuits Hitting Palin | NewsBusters
On Friday's Fox Report, FNC correspondent Carl Cameron informed viewers: "Those ethics complaints have all been dropped or dismissed, and yet they've taken a toll and she acknowledged as much earlier." Then came a soundbite of Palin from her news conference, which was partially played on the CBS Evening News but not on ABC or NBC. Palin:

Todd and I, we’re looking at more than half a million dollars in legal bills just in order to set the record straight. And what about the people who offer up these silly accusations? It doesn't cost them a dime. ... My staff and I spend most of our days, we're dealing with this stuff instead of progressing our state now.

And as soon as she left office, the vast majority of the lawsuits were dropped.
Her political enemies drove her from office financially, but not for anything she did wrong.
They just made it too costly to continually defend herself in court.
Not to mention the fact that while she was defending herself, she wasn't doing the job she was hired to do.

Jamie - thanks for digging into this and sharing it. I knew that the left was pulling out all the stops to destroy her, but I didn't realize that she had to pay her own legal bills. It does make a difference to me. As far as the other things, troopergate never passed the sniff test with me. eMail activity was not the best move, but I don't think its a show stopper, either. her biggest mistake was not realizing that it would not just be the Democrats out to get her.

We need someone who isn't afraid of not getting re-elected that can hold a broom and a mop and go clean that mess up.

Decades too late for that. Run every US dump truck 24/7 until the books balance and the place smells better.

RE: Palin the dumb/quitter/extremist.

Sorry Kelzebubba but the facts are against you here as Jaime has pointed out.

But it's a specious argument anyway isn't it? You claim that is she is too stupid to be VP, yet you voted for Joe Biden.

Care to justify that?

Want to compare gaffs?

Just in the last four years. It's fair right? Biden has decades more experience in national exposure, high level Congressional positions, Presidential races, you can't lose.

I said I voted for the greater of two evils.

Also when I say Palin was doing Alaskan government business on her Yahoo account (STUPID) I think that proves my point. Plus McCain really sucked.
The second turn around I voted for Gary Johnson simply because Ron Paul was not on the republican ticket.

Out of the republican primaries which by the way, we (yes even you guys in the Northwest) really got zero say in. I was excited as you can be about Herman Cain. I was going to vote for him for our president. Unfortunately he got cut by leaks of info I am sure came from the Obama camp (hard to play the race card against a black man). Then it was Huntsman, who was the only one with an energy plan, but the CLDS asked him to step down for their boy with the big boy pants. Then I was straight up with Ron Paul. I actually liked him the best, I agree with him 100% on everything. However most people are brainwashed by the America is great propaganda they heard from the time they were little. I remember some of it in the 80s before the end of the cold war. Our new generation hasn't been as indoctrinated as most, but they are lazy and perceptually blind.

Want to compare gaffs?
Why would I want to do that, they are both equally silly off script as the other (though since Biden does get more press now he might seem to be the winner). Palin won't run for president, she doesn't want the pay cut. She is doing what she is doing for the money.

so NWFA is having to shut down the site and limit the inbox and stuff and we are filling up the servers with Sara Palin talk??? why cant we just let her sit in here front yard and look over at russia? and not bog down the internet talking about her?

I have to remind you Lush,...
It's tina fey that "can see Russia from my house."

Not Sarah.

You were obviously duped too!
By a comedy program. How sad is that?!?

Here is a handy quiz you can take to see if you spot the real vs Stinka Fey quote: Quiz: Sarah Palin and Tina Fey - who said that? | World news | The Guardian

As for gaffes, I'd rate her at 75 micro Bidens. I don't think she has them more often than most in the political world, but when she makes them it gets prime time coverage. The gaffe master himself could have his own cable channel, but when he gaffes, it's just good old lovable, crazy Uncle Joe.

i dont know the quote word for word. it was something like "They're our next door neighbors, you can see russia from our land" or something along those lines. i dont follow her daily life close enough to know every thing she says word for word.

Hopefully, you guys will talk yourselves into nominating Palin in 2016. Probably the only way to keep a Republican out of the White House that year...

"They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska." That is the quote straight from Palin. It refers to standing on the island of Little Diomede and on a clear day you can see Big Diomede, an uninhabited island that is owned by Russia. So basically Palin wants to brag about nothing.

For a minute there I thought it read mounting instead of nominating... Only Freud knows why.

She also said Putin "flexed his muscles" by violating Alaskan/American airspace regularly.
For which she was mocked relentlessly by the leftists and their pet press.

Russia flexes its military muscles with Western airspace violations | World | DW.DE | 04.04.2010
On Putin's order, regular patrol flights of Russia's Tu-160 und Tu-95 were resumed in August 2007. Since then, Russian strategic bombers have increased their patrols over the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans and are sometimes intercepted by British, American or Canadian aircraft. Russian authorities, however, have denied accusations that Russian airplanes have violated the airspace of European, NATO or North American countries."

Russian Nuclear Bombers Intercepted Over West Coast on Fourth of July | A Time For Choosing
This is nothing new, as the Russians are known to violate American air space often. On Sarah Palin’s watch, as Governor of Alaska, and Commander-in-Chief, the Alaska Air National Guard’s 176th Wing routinely escorted the Russians out of Alaskan air space. In fact, the 176th received the Air Force’s Outstanding Unit Award for its service to the nation . Part of the citation noted:

The 176th Air Control Squadron maintained North American air sovereignty by detecting, monitoring and escorting 22 Russian bombers from within its area of operations.

While it’s troubling that Russian nuclear bombers were routinely violating Alaskan air space, one has to realize how close Alaska and Russia are. The west coast of the United States is another matter altogether.

How were these nuclear capable bombers allowed to get so close to the continental United States?

Russia Violates U.S. Airspace | Washington Free Beacon
The U.S. Northern Command and joint U.S.-Canadian North American Aerospace Defense (NORAD) Command said two Russian bombers violated U.S. airspace near Alaska during recent arctic war games.

Disclosure by the command in charge of U.S. homeland defense followed a report in the Free Beacon quoting U.S. officials who said the Russian aircraft had threatened U.S. air space but did not cross into it and were met over the Pacific by U.S. F-15 interceptor jets.

“There was a single out-of-area patrol by two Russian
long range bombers which entered the Alaska ADIZ that were visually
identified by NORAD fighters,” John Cornelio, chief spokesman for Northcom, said in an email response to questions about the recent war games.

ADIZ is the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone, a line of airspace surrounding Alaska used by the military to monitor aircraft threats.

So much for the press' mockery,...
And yours.

When one looks at Biden as our VP now, he makes Palin look like Einstein, ( no not Fienstien eeew )

I think Biden was chosen purely as protection for Obama. Nobody, no matter how stupid or racist would consider an assassination that would leave Biden at the wheel. It makes me shudder just to think about it.
