how the CRAP are your kids safety effected by law-abiding citizens not being prohibited from exercising their Constitutional right to protect their own lives?
its guys like you that have championed the almost century-long erosion of our rights.
Constitution > your delusions about safety
So I guess you can't present even one incident where there has been a problem at a school from a concealed carry? You need to stop dealing in feel good emotions and start living in a world of facts and reality.
Yes as a matter of fact I do and I've carried everday dropping off and picking up the kids from school since kindergarten through H.S.
That question is outside the scope of the second amendment and is just a diversion.
I'll have to say no I will retain my legal right to carry where ever the law allows. See the problem with people like you is that you can't just be happy with making your own choices you feel you need to make my choice for me too. I say no to you sir, you will not dictate my rights to me.
There are no anti-gun bills in danger of passing this year.
Can y'all please stop the hysteria?
People might misunderstand and think you are people with way too much time on your hands,
lashing out like little girls at every scary rustle in the bushes.
iomatic, I understand that you want concealed carriers to stay away from your kids' school because some might be inadequately trained and you feel they are potentially a threat to your children's safety. OK, fair enough, but let's think this through using logic.
School isn't the only place your kids go. How about say....shopping. I'm sure you take your kids to stores or a shopping mall. If those concealed carriers are a danger when they are at your kids' school, they wouldn't be any less dangerous when they are at a store or a mall. Should concealed carriers be barred from the premises when your kids are there?
How about a restaurant? Movie theater? Public park? Museum? If you don't want concealed carriers at schools because they are a danger to your kids' safety, the same would be true in any public space. Should there be a mobile concealed carrier exclusion zone that goes wherever your kids go?
If you are going to say no, only at schools, then you have to explain logically why a concealed carrier would be OK next to your kids in a store, theater, or restaurant, but not OK near them at a school. What is it about being at a school that automatically makes the same concealed carrier who is acceptable away from school become a danger to your kids when they set foot on school property?
now you've convinced him that concealed carry should be banned everywhere.
I see your conjecture and raise mine. I'm pretty sure people have been killed at gun ranges too (re: comic above).
-Alright, show me where a CHL has prevented or helped stop a gun-wielding felon from killing someone
-I'd also wage the lot of you have no kind of training and would probably put everyone at worse risk in a gunfight on school grounds
-Since we're all making guesses here, I'll bet the majority of you have any kids in school
-Since it's legal to carry medical marijuana in some cases, it would be ok to bring that to school?
Keep your guns away from our kids' schools. Don't need 'em. See you at the range.
Wow; read the whole thread looking for information on the Oregon reciprocity bill. Boy was I dissapointed
Today, House Bill 2792 was, as we expected, gut and stuffed so all the language that recognized other states' handgun licenses was removed.
Yesterday we told you about the amendments we expected to be added to the bill, so their adoption was not a surprise. What was a surprise was who made the motion to adopt the amendments. The motion to adopt the amendments was made by Republican Jeff Kruse.
Senator Doug Whitsett approved of the amendments and the gut and stuffed bill was moved to the Senate floor.
The amendments include the language that would clarify how to lawfully carry a firearm on a motorcycle, snowmobile or ATV. But all this language existed in a clean stand alone bill that was mangled by Senate Judiciary Chair Floyd Prozanski. That mangled bill, HB 2797 now also includes a ban on concealed carry on school grounds. 2797 is almost certainly dead, so getting the motorcycle language in a bill that could pass has a benefit, but all of this could have been easily accomplished by simply passing a clean version of HB 2797!
The amended version of HB 2792 also includes Prozanski's language to restrict felon's ability to apply for gun rights restoration. Both Republican Senators expressed reservations about the broadness of the new restrictions but both voted to gut and stuff the bill. Senator Kruse, after making the motion to approve the amendments commented that he really had not had time to read them in any depth.
There is one gun bill left in Senate Judiciary, HB 2787. This was the original CHL privacy bill.
That bill is scheduled for a work session tonight at 5:30 PM. Given what has taken place in the Senate Judiciary Committee so far, the best we can hope for is that the bill just dies.
I have a pretty good feeling I'd have an easier time scoring some marijuana in your kids school than finding a kid carrying a gun with a concealed handgun license.
iomatic just doesnt understand freedom (or has not been taught it) Period.
But did we get reciprocity?
Not yet and it is still uncertain. The house refused to accept the amendments so it goes to a committee.
