When I lived in Iowa, there are a few towns out there that have the same names as other locations, but they pronounce them differently.

Madrid was pronounced Mad-rid. Nevada was Ne-vay-duh.

As for firearms pronunciation, I pronounced Leupold scopes leo-poled scopes until just a couple of years ago.
 
Nuh-Vaw-Da should take care of it.
New-Or-Leens would make a Costco double pack.
And Spoe-Kane would make it a trifecta.

Spo-can and many other PNW towns/cities are ripe for mispronunciation.

Puyallup. Sequim for example.

When I try to explain to people where I live, they act like they had never heard of Chehalem, and when I explain that it is between Scholls and Newberg, they always think Scholls is the bunch of strip malls between Wa. Square and Murray Hill. This is Scholls:
