Possibly 'smarter' (at least for me):

10MM is the only caliber I crimp outside of the seating die. On the 4-hole turret I was: Size; Flare / charge; Seat; Crimp (FCD).

I didn't like adjusting the flare on the charging die for jacketed vs. coated, and began to think maybe the FCD isn't the best route for lead.

Now I: Size; Flare with a universal die; Charge w/o belling; seat.

The universal die adjusts the same way a seating die does, so switching between lead and jacketed is quick. Crimping is handled on the single stage, taper for lead, and FCD for jacketed.

Thinking the FCD might get put away, we'll see.

I also have multiple dies for the same caliber. For me it's 9mm. I have a seating die for my competition loads and one for any other.

And...,

I do crimp my 223 with a Lee Factory Crimp die, shooting out of an AR-15.
