Pissing off tens of millions of potential customers had nothing to do with it... ;)

Yah, I find that hard to believe too. So, they are facing strong competition and struggling in one retail space (sporting goods and apparel) and then they decide to screw up their other (firearms and related). Brilliant move on management's part. ;)

The same people who buy firearms are also the same ones who buy camping and fishing equipment. Half the fun of going to a sporting goods store is gawking at guns even if you don't want to make a purchase.

I have seen this on a much smaller scale all my life. Anyone who had been around a while has seen some small business open and fold. Before the days of Amazon and such many "Mom and Pop" places would open to serve a need. Way too many people would open some shop with the idea they were doing the customers a favor by lowering themselves to help them. Of course these places go under and when asked about it blame everything and everyone except themselves. On larger scale like this if they do go under they will NEVER admit it had anything to do with this bone head idea's they came up with.

Doubt it. They don't sell that many guns or that much ammo. They mostly sell basketballs/etc. - if they stopped selling guns altogether it would not put them out of business. They are not a gun store and they suck at it to start with. I have not gone in there since the first time they tried this crap with that Connecticut school shooting years ago.

It's not the loss of firearms sales that will hurt them, it's people saying "F.U. stick that basketball where the sun don't shine." Personally, I hope they shrivel up and blow away like the POS they are.

Announcement from Mossberg! GOOD FOR THEM! Others should follow.:)

O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., a leading American firearms manufacturer, will discontinue selling products to Dick's Sporting Goods, and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring of gun control lobbyists in April 2018.

Effective immediately, O.F. Mossberg & Sons will not accept any future orders from Dick's Sporting Goods or Field & Stream, and is in the process of evaluating current contractual agreements.

"It has come to our attention that Dick's Sporting Goods recently hired lobbyists on Capitol Hill to promote additional gun control," said Iver Mossberg, Chief Executive Officer of O.F. Mossberg & Sons. "Make no mistake, Mossberg is a staunch supporter of the U.S. Constitution and our Second Amendment rights, and we fully disagree with Dick's Sporting Goods' recent anti-Second Amendment actions."

Consumers are urged to visit one of the thousands of pro-Second Amendment firearm retailers to make their purchases of Mossberg and Maverick® firearms. Firearm retailers can be found through the Mossberg Dealer Locator by visiting http://www.mossberg.com/dealers/.
