King Harold Godwinson died defending his kingdom and people from a foreign invader.
Please take a moment and remember this brave man.

1066 was a interesting year...3 battles , all related , which shaped the history of England.
Three powerful leaders had claims to the English throne.
Admitting my liking for King Harold and his cause....Norman and Viking involvement , causes and the like are also worth looking into.
And perhaps defending....:eek: :D

In any event ,
I urge all here to take a moment , remember this day...and maybe look up some interesting and moving histoy.

On this day Oct 14, 1942...

USS Greenling (SS 213) sinks the Japanese army cargo ship Takusei Maru six miles off Todo Saki near the northern coast of Honshu and USS Sculpin (SS 191) sinks the Japanese army cargo ship Sumiyoshi Maru 75 miles southwest of Kavieng, New Ireland.
