In Tepito, those interviewed reported, monthly or bimonthly shipments arrive that are distributed to different destinations. The shipments include revolvers, submachine guns, rifles and grenade launchers, [and] many of them end up in the hands of organized crime groups, they acknowledge.

Naturally these all must be coming from US gun shows. Of course, toward the end of the article, they do note:

A percentage of the weapons, the seller said, come from Mexico via Ministry of Defense personnel who provide [them] in part from weapons seized in raids, or stolen from the ministry’s own arsenal.

Gang-related homicides in the Yakima Valley in 2009:

Of Yakima County’s 19 homicides so far this year [2009], at least seven are considered gang-related homicides. Here is a list of those that police say are gang-related.

* Jan. 4 — Jesus Tlaseca Sosa, 22, was shot to death by gang rivals at an AM/PM minimart in Sunnyside. Police later arrested suspect Oscar Torres, 25.

* March 5 — Estevan Silva Jr., 17, and 20-year-old Israel Diaz were fatally shot in Toppenish by a gang rival. Days later, police arrested suspects Anthony Sanchez, 22, of Buena and his sister, Isabel Sanchez, 20, of Wapato.

* May 18 — Leonardo A. Perez, 20, of Yakima is fatally shot somewhere around the 1000 block of North Fourth Street in Yakima. No one has been charged with his death.

* June 27 — Oscar Garcia, 16, died 10 days after he was shot in the head in the 400 block of South Fourth Street in Yakima. Police said he was a known gang member. No arrests to date.

* Sept. 29 — Yorbane Ortiz, 17, of Yakima is shot dead near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Willow Street about 9 p.m. A witness says a car pulled alongside Ortiz before shots were fired.

* Oct. 10 — Nicholas J. Jimenez, 20, of Yakima was shot to death when someone opened fire on him and a 16-year-old former Yakima boy who were standing outside a house that hosted a party in the 700 block of North Fourth Avenue. Police say they were part of a group that gathered after the funeral of Yorbane Ortiz.

Israel actually has a very low violent crime rate, one of the lowest in the world.
In Israel the number of homicide rate produced by criminal activities is relatively low: 1.8 killed per 100,000 inhabitants in a year. America's is currently at 5.4 killed per 100,000.

as a side note to that:

Not only do they have very lax gun laws, but the government also issues all men (not criminals) of legal age firearms so they may serve in their militia in the event of an emergency where they are needed. Same thing with Switzerland and they have very low violent crime and homocide rates.

Point is gun control doesn't work, if anything it hurts. /rant

Lets deport the white men back to Europe! Besides don't you realize white people kill more than any other race? My wife is currently out of the job and would love to even have a job in fast food, however because she can't speak spanish she has been denied even those jobs which she is greatly overqualified for. I got hired for fast food before while I was a teenager, I worked for 3, 3 hour shifts before they realized I couldn't speak spanish, they let me go for "not being qualified".

Really, I know a lot of people who are out of work right now and would take any job just to have some sort of income and due to the monopoly of undocumented foreign invaders in some entry level industries, they are left unable to support their families while the criminals steal their jobs and ship the money out of this country.

Two points here:
1) It is wrong and despicable that employers take advantage of "us mexicans" and underpay them thereby undercutting wages in this country. The mexicans in my farming and vacation community are not always treated well by their employers nor are they paid what their labor is worth in my opinion. Why do they stand for it? Because they are afraid of deportation.

2) If we actually secured our borders and deported all illegal immigrants (mexican, russian, asian etc.) I honestly believe we would be better off. Many of these illegals are on welfare (see my above reference to dirt poor wages) and receive education for their millions of children. Since these illegals have extremely low wages they likely pay little or no taxes and therefore the education costs alone would probably make up for the loss of cheap labor. I believe in Oregon that ESL (English as a Second Language) students cost the state between $12-15k per student annually.

I'm more than happy to pay more for my food to have secure borders. Will it make life harder? You bet. But it will sure as heck be worth it to know that our borders are secure. I have no problem with Mexicans, El Salvadorans, Colombians or any other hispanic/latino people in our country so long as they are legal and WILLING TO ASSIMILATE TO OUR CULTURE. That's what my Italian, Portugese, Norwegian, German etc. ancestors did when they moved here generations ago.

The entire discussion is about "Illegals" That is anyone entering the US without filling out the forms as did our
forefathers, and waiting until they are invited here.
When someone crosses our border illegally they commit their first crime against the US. For many it does not stop there. Also when someone has done the right thing and requested and waited properly, ie: used to have to take a US Constitution test, and swear allegence to the United states. They were told to learn our language and to assimilate into our society, not bring their baggage from wherever they came from. They had to have a job waiting and ,or, a United States citizen sponser.

The only person that would even be remotely offended by this thread seems to me to be either an illegal or a sympathizer of them. The crime and drugs since the border was allowed to be breached unopposed for the most part is offensive to the extreme to every true American. There is no more toleration of this offensive act against the US.
Mexico needs to fix it's corrupt government first, instead of trying to foul ours up.
It needs to establish it's own industry to support it's people, not pile it on our backs anymore!
I am sick of subsidizing their medical, education, housing needs so they can send their money back to support Mexico. It is time for it all to stop. It has destroyed the wages here and not in the crappy jobs anymore, as they now get free training to do jobs that millions of Americans would love to have. That myth of they only do the work Americans don't want is not even relevent anymore ! Also I hold employers as responsible as the illegals if they hire them. I have tried to be tolerant, but that feeling wore out long ago. When an illegal breaches our border uninvited and then commits more crimes against the US or on our soil, it is little different than an act of war when you think about it.
