Somewhat related to Stevens' treasonous drivel is this article in The Seattle Times: One in five Americans wants the Second Amendment repealed, national survey finds

This little tidbit makes me fear for our future:

One caveat is that other polls have shown that many Americans do not know what the Second Amendment actually is. In 1999, for instance, a Hearst Newspapers poll found that 59 percent of respondents said they did not know the purpose of the Second Amendment.
Mother of God.

Country Gent, it gets worse, many Americans don't even really know what the Constitution is and have yet to even read it. And, even worse than that, there are many Americans who don't give a crap about our Constitution or Bill of Rights. They want to live in their little magical utopia of a gun-free, peace-loving, socialist, egalitarian world that will never exist. Many fascist parties started with such a manifesto. Like the Communists became popular because they promised everyone a utopia where everyone would be equally rich and they would very simply just redistribute the wealth. We saw how that one worked out!

I read this article at lunch today and what made me chuckle, was that by suggesting the repeal of the 2nd Amendment to accomplish gun control, Stevens implicitly compromised his dissent in Heller -- a Supreme Court justice's job is to uphold the Constitution no matter what his personal political opinion is. By claiming the route to gun control is repeal of the 2nd, Stevens essentially admitted his vote in Heller was politically based, not Constitutionally based

Wow! I never would have suspected that! ;)

It looks like the anti's are mad that Stevens let the cat out of the bag and are trying to do major damage control..........

Cuomo doesn't believe Stevens' words mean he is calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment.

"He did not. It was about the fastest route to legal change," Cuomo said. "Of course if you didn't have a Second Amendment, you wouldn't have Heller. It would be easier to change the laws," Cuomo said. "He's not a politician. He's not in office. He is not the head of any significant group."
CNN's Cuomo Says No One Is Calling for Repeal of Second Amendment

They're trying to distance themselves for his comments (even though they totally agree with him) because they know that it will stall, stop and/or possibly undo every infringement they are proposing...........

NBC said:
advocating for such a measure could unnecessarily undercut the reform movement while distracting from measures that are currently feasible.
Opinion | Steve Vladeck: How calls for a Second Amendment repeal can hinder gun reform

CNN said:
Winkler also argued that Stevens' proposal is counterproductive because it backs up the claim by Trump and the NRA that supporters of gun control want to take away guns.
"Stevens's call to repeal the 2A is not only ineffective but worse: it makes it even harder to pass good gun laws today. It plays right into the hands of the @nra which can now point to this op-ed and say, 'See, we told you they want to take away your rights and your guns.'"
There's not a 'snowflake's chance in hell' of repealing the Second Amendment - CNNPolitics

So now all the anti's are coming out of the woodwork expecting us to believe that they "support the Second Amendment" but only want modest restrictions on gun, "for the children". Well, it's not going to work anti's, we knew all along what you wanted, now it's finially out in the open, so F... You!
