so is any one else fallowing the violent protest here longview ? now spreading Vancouver and just now trouble is brewing in Olympia and Tacoma.

Never thought I would see police dawning riot gear in a town like longview.
I don't know if this could be the start of something bigger but it shows that
even smaller towns, not just big cities, are vulnerable to mob violence.
And it may be even more dangerous because their police are not equipped for it.

The spike in grain/corn prices is already causing greater inflation rates for food, than other consumer goods.
And now this.
These people won't be happy until they cripple the country. Too bad they'll piss-off every cash strapped citizen that can't afford to feed their kids, regardless of political bent.

Then of course they'll complain they were treated "unfairly."

It's starting----what would you do????

Police: Longshoremen storm port, hold guards hostage - KPTV - FOX 12

LONGVIEW, WA (KPTV) -
Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.

Six guards were held hostage for a couple of hours after 500 or more Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows in the guard shack, he said.

No one was hurt, and nobody has been arrested. Most of the protesters returned to their union hall after cutting brake lines and spilling grain from car at the EGT terminal, Duscha said.

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union believes it has the right to work at the facility, but the company has hired a contractor that's staffing a workforce of other union laborers.

Thursday's violence was first reported by Kelso radio station KLOG.

Police from several agencies in southwest Washington, the Washington State Patrol and Burlington Northern Santa Fe responded to the violence to secure the scene that followed a demonstration Wednesday.

"We're not surprised," Duscha said. "A lot of the protesters were telling us this in only the start."

One sergeant was threatened with baseball bats and retreated, Duscha said. "One officer with hundreds of Longshoremen? He used the better part of discretion."

The train was the first grain shipment to arrive at Longview. It arrived Wednesday night after police arrested 19 demonstrators who tried to block the tracks. They were led by ILWU International President Robert McEllrath, who said they would return.

The blockade appeared to defy a federal restraining order issued last week against the union after it was accused of assaults and death threats.

EGT chief executive Larry Clarke said it was unfortunate that law enforcement needed to make arrests.

I'd say this sort of stuff has been going on long before there were unions and will no doubt continue as long as the human race exists.
I'd say this has been going on ever since union bosses convinced their followers that they had a RIGHT to a job.
Someone else's job.
Curiously enough, the jobs they wanted here were already union jobs, filled by workers from a different union.

If they had been after the grain, to feed their families or their livestock, I might understand your claim ToR, but this was union thuggery, plain and simple.
They'll keep pushing 'til someone gets seriously hurt or killed, then claim they were wronged somehow.

Unions should be a thing of the past. When they first came to be, they were a good thing. NOW, they drive work out of the country, and just generally try to bully the employers. Its ridiculous in this day and age that unions are still around. All the things that unions got Americans, are now State and Federal mandates. Breaks, 40 hr work weeks etc etc etc. Thank you unions, now get off your high horse and be damn glad you have a job.

The Marxists are comming out of the woodwork and they are DESPERATE.
Here at home Greenies dump previously caged wolves in a attempt to PROVE the area is wolf habitat. Thanks to GOV. Gregaorie I now must pay 30 dollars (Per personal Vechicle, per year) to drive on a public gravel road that has been in existance for nearly 100 years and that I have paid to maintain for 30 years.
The Socialists are going NUTS as they near total financial meltdown. Thier solution is to "Take Em Out!" (and of course the Unions mindlessly attack a railroad car and kidnap 5 security guards) then they(Obama's Minions) complain about how there is no "Bipartisian Co-operation".
The end is comming, soon.

though I'm still most shocked that my town actually got talked about on the Rush Limbaugh show and made it on the drudge report. I love Longview but no one ever talks about it unless something bad happens -_-

If this is what union thugs do to their union brothers, what do you think they will do to the next Tea Party event now that they have their marching orders from Hoffa Jr.?

Listening to Ken Schram at lunch (one of the local uber-Lib radio talk show hosts here in Seattle), his take was that it would be perfectly acceptable for these hoodlums to kidnap, unlawfully imprison, assault, threaten and generally terrorize 'scabs', but since the victims of all of those crimes were also organized labor, he couldn't decide whose side to take.

Right. I look forward to the day when we get back to working for $1/hr. And those damn kids, what are they doing in school all day when they could be helping support their families by working in a mine or a factory?

Just like every other accusation the left throws out, you see what is real when you watch them. They say the tea party is violent but the truth is they have planned this violence. When they say the right is against the common man then the fact is the left has gone for 30 months in power and can't make us any jobs. Their only answer is now violence from the unions and the left. They must fight or lose their power.

Laborday rally, do you remember the head union honcho saying he was Obamas army? Called all the non union people SOBs Bottom rises up, top comes down and it turns our world inside out. Cloward and Piven on how to destroy America.

Its ok to be ignorant in this country, we have laws that protect you :s0155:
When unions first started, there were no labor laws or anything else to protect the workers. Show me a factory that school kids could work in. Oh, thats right, most of our production capabilities have left the country because they don't want to pay union laborers' BS costs. Simple as that. Unions sure didn't help the auto industry either. How about the union police officers in my town? Had the top 5% of the union taken a 5% paycut, they could have saved 2 officer's and 1 clerk's jobs. Guess where those three are now? On unemployment. What a bunch of selfish bastards.
Just keep your head buried in the left-side sand, and the rest of us will continue to live in the real world. ;)

Child laborers....hahahahahahahahaha Have you seen today's kids? They wouldn't work to save THEMSELVES, let alone the rest of their family.

Working for $1 an hour? There are some people who would be ok with that. If it meant they had a job.

Don't worry about this little stuff,if the longshoremen out here, have Hoffa Jr's backing ,they could shut down all the west coast ports.
They've done it before.Nothing gets on the ships ,nothing gets off.

This was kid stuff.
