Seems like I remember something about that making it a new "ammunition feeding device" but it's been quite a while and it may have been during the 90s magazine capacity limit. I'm not wanting to increase capacity in case that matters, just change the shape to accept a different cartridge.
 
Maybe if you live in one of the non-free states it could be a problem. If you had to register it, or there was some ban that it was grandfathered from or something, modifying it could void the grandfathered status.

But up here in the great (for now) PNW, you shouldn't have any problems. We have no restrictions on any form of ammunition feeding devices (at least that I know of, someone correct me if I'm wrong).
