I am totaly OK with her pushing more gun control. Actually I hope she screams about it to her hearts content, all the way up through the elections. Because it will seriously hurt her chances of getting elected as President, and that is a great thing in my book.

You know what the constant is in pissing contests? Usually you get covered in piss, whether you win or lose.

At the same time, I will concur that the fundamental fact is, that we need to reign in elitist totalitarians who want to run roughshod over the bill of rights. This is not just a matter of gun rights, as so many of our other rights (hello, 4th, 5th and 13th amendments) are under assault from all sides, whether it's the NSA tapping our phones, e-mail, and web browsing histories, to our healthcare information being digitized and mulled over by the FBI to look for medical and psychological indicators that we are not fit to manage our own affairs. In short, we need to reign in government, not the perceptions of our natural rights to self determination.

But she only wants COMMON SENSE gun laws, don't you see? Since she was speaking at the National Council for Behavioral Health conference I'm sure she wants a new law raising the bar as to who gets to own a gun. That might get a lot of votes for her, stopping disturbed people from buying guns is good, right?

Had an argument with the wife? NO GUN FOR YOU!
Getting a little forgetful in your old age? NO GUN FOR YOU!

Hell let's make it easy, NO GUN FOR ANYONE until you pass a mental health test. Of course if you want a gun for anything but hunting or target shooting you're obviously paranoid, that's a mental disorder, so I guess it's still NO GUN FOR YOU!

You know, one thing kinda hits me in nearly all the dystopian fiction I've ever read... the root in nearly all cases is that one group to decides what objective reality is, and what it means, and anyone who doesn't is mentally ill.

The whole thing reminds me of this:

One of the other things that I don't think has been brought up and mentioned much is the fact that the republicans, and national news media is making prognostications about the potential republican nominees. While personally I like Geb Bush, there is absolutely no way I would vote for him, the job of our citizen executive should not be the job of the cloistered elite, when hillary first started making noise about running in 2008, the only thing I could think of is how much a disaster our republic has become that we essentially have a few ruling families that toss the football around. It makes us look like a third world banana republic. Then again, the guy we are all faced with at the moment is being driven around in 50+ car motorcades, while most of the city he happens to be visiting is completely shut down as a means of providing for his "security". When GWB was still president, I got stopped at a traffic light, 5 cars with police escort drove by it wasn't until later I realized it was GWB. Now, you need to make the same considerations as if there was an approaching hurricane (stockpiling food, water, boarding up the windows and calling in sick to work) because there is literally no way you will be able to move because the Citizen Executive of our Great Republic is in the same zip code.

Sometimes I think the zombie apocalypse already happened, and no one felt the need to tell me about it.

Sort of like now, if you think unchecked mass immigration is bad for our country or are a little skeptical about man-made global warming your unabashedly labeled a racist half-wit. If the Globalists/progressives whatever they are, had their way these people (me included) would be locked up in mental facilities/ re-education camps.
If you are a non-believer and own a gun as well, you'd never see the light of day again!
