If you're careful to protect that trigger (gun in holster) and mindful of muzzle direction, you might stick your gun in a camera case. Advantages - can shift it around occasionally, people think it's a camera. Disadvantages - you might leave it behind after a rest on the trail, and it's not designed for carrying a gun so there may be unknown safety issues, and you might have to lie if asked about your "camera". :)

What holster(s) are you using for carry while hiking or backpacking? My Kingtuk doesnt handshake well with the waist straps of my packs. That being the case, I need suggestions. I would prefer to keep on my person instead of in/on my pack for obvious reasons. Guns to be carried are P229 or SP101.

Thank you in advance:cool:

I use...

..., as I can have on a pack too and have unobstructed access to my pistol. I learned about these holsters as several pilots used these as they didn't interfere with their flight gear.

I hike with a Blade-Tech IWB holster clipped to my shoulder strap and carry a Springfield XD-S. Works just fine! I operate under the assumption that should I run into a "4 Legged" not so friendly... The report alone from this .45 ACP will send them running...

I am looking for something along this line, but I would prefer to carry a Sig P938 outside the strap in a slightly lower position.
Any ideas by chance?

I found that I was able to clip the BladeTech holster on my straps and it was angled up enough that there is little chance of the XD slipping out. The BladeTech holster do "snap" the handgun in place so it isn't loose at all. You can order them for almost any handgun on their website. Pretty cool and custom fit.
