I'm willing to bet they will never counterfeit pre 1964 US dimes and such

The first article talks about the "ring" test you can apply to coinage... back in the day when sorting through all my coins, I would take any "suspect" silver coins and drop them on the table, and you could clearly hear the difference between a silver and copper coin. Despite the hearing damage I have from heavy industrial equipment, gunshots and explosions, it's quite distinct.
