Both Ruger and Weaver made bases for the #3. Maybe others. Ruger or Weaver compatible rings would fit those bases.

I seem to recall the very first #3's were not drilled and tapped for bases.

Right - I have Weaver bases on it right now. But it's a 45-70, so I sometimes wonder how well they will hold up.

What base is on yours? Any chance you could post a picture?
The Weaver bases are on it right now; #85 and #86

Here are two pics without the bases, and one with them and a scope mounted

We don't have bases for that, but we have rings that fit those bases.
Good deal. Any plans on making bases for it in the future? The rings, I'm feeling pretty solid on, but it's a bear to find any bases outside of the Weaver aluminum or Ruger "ring" style bases (which require Ruger rings or rings with that proprietary design, I'm told)!

Unfortunately no plans on making bases for them. Sorry, we couldn't help you out with that.

@Warne I wish there was a better way to select the right components from the start. Theres no dimensions on the height of the pic rail base, so I took a chance trusting the recommended ring height to fit my 44mm objective: medium.

Too tall. Now I have to return things, and repurchase things. Wont get to zero this weekend for sure now.
