Why wouldn't he have checked the headspace before firing at all? If you're building it, you really should. Gauges are very cheap. Like a single mag of .308 cheap.

@kmk1012 you might want to reconsider running the extended length firing pin in your 50 if you having any doubt about the lugs completely locking. I wouldn't want this to happen in your set up.

I had that though too! People got lucky on this one, I'd sure hate to roll the dice again. When I get a chance I'll swap all parts over to the new lower before going any further.

After I built mine, it went to the gunsmith just to be on the safe side. Glad y'all are ok!! Scary stuff
