Very aware of how to use it. Been using it for the past two years. But long term, a sort of film has developed.

You can buff off the film that develops. I like to leave them with the film for storage.

Right, after a while, this stuff kind makes the metal 'sweat', for want of a better term.

That's a good coating to have on for storage, it's a good barrier protectant, but obviously it should be wiped clean for use.

WD40 is hydroscopic, meaning it attracts moisture.. it's also too thin for lube

I assume you mean hygroscopic, and no there is nothing in WD40 that makes it attract moisture. It's called Water Displacement-40 but it collects water?

Where do people come up with this stuff?
