I haven't see it as an issue in my own XDm 40 nor have I seen it metioned as a "common issue" on the XDtalk.com forums.

I don't know about the xdm but I have a xd 40cal and never had a problem with it what your describing I would say it's the ammo

Sounds like light strikes across ammo brands. Simple first step is check/clean the firing pin channel and firing pin right?

I had the same problem with a glock 26 I had awhile back. It was the firing pin in the slide had too much oil in there. Sprayed out with degreaser and compressed air, then lightly lubed and never had the problem again.

If you need to take the striker out I have a set of punches I bought from springer precision to keep on hand just in case.I am also in salem just let me know if you need them.

I have multiple XDm pistols and have never experienced that problem.

It's not common to my XDm, I have ~2000 rounds through mine so far with zero issues.
