Doesn't social distancing work better if you force masses of people to stay in densely populated areas?

Right...You also missed my sarcasm.
Right...
Well this past week I can tell you there were as many or more turkey hunters in the OR national forest than ever...and opening day was a Wednesday. So what about those state and fed folks who manage public lands? They still gettin paid (I mean are we still paying them) even though they are not on patrol or working on "developed" sites?
How'd you do? Finally got the bench cleared and that Tipton is on it (I like it too much to give to my bro... ).Well this past week I can tell you there were as many or more turkey hunters in the OR national forest than ever...and opening day was a Wednesday. There are libertarians and there are libertines. You speak of the latter. As long as they can continue their orgies, obsess over their porn, weed and cross dressing, they think they are free. America is a great nation because those liberties exist.Tyranny. Welcomed by many who otherwise speak of liberty

I so livid about this abuse of power. How in the F are they going to close the outdoors?!
For social distancing? This is exactly social distancing.
if there is a stay at home order then that should apply to the 1000 people at home depot everyday, or costco, or fred meyer, etc etc.
This is about controlling the populace, punishing people, and screwing the people who they know are outdoorsmen or sportsman.

I think you just nailed it. They cannot monitor our social distancing if we're all spread out. So they funnel us all into Costco, Walmart and home depot so they can make sure we're properly social distancing.
Sometimes I feel like I'm literally the only person who hasn't changed a darn thing about their life and still does exactly as I like, when and where I like. I mean, come on. You think the 7 danger rangers are out there hunting down people getting fresh air?

Let's look at why those places, particularly the beach, were so crowded. a) It was spring break and all of the kids wanted to go do what kids do, b) the weather was absolutely perfect for a week which is unusual for spring break in Oregon, c) they told everyone they couldn't go ANYWHERE ELSE so naturally people go to what is left available d) a lot of people had those plans already set for months in advance including myself which I ended up cancelling, e) Covid was almost non existent in Oregon at that point, specifically mid-March. It just wasn't enough of a big deal here yet to make people take social distancing seriously.I feel like you may have missed a few things . . .
Not saying Home Depot aint a S**t Show, but

This Pulmonary Doctor in NYC is suggesting that the likelihood of getting Covid-19 from passing by someone on a trail or on the streets is extremely small. It's just not what they're seeing as the main vehicle of transmission. As long as people are smart about what they do, they should be able to use trailheads with no worry. The State has a way of treating people as if they aren't smart enough to govern their own actions. They'll usually point to the one guy or the one group of people acting out of line and say "see, you guys just can't manage yourselves."If the concern is COVID spread, then I would propose one-way trail use to prevent passing trail users going the other way. Many trails would have that option. For example, you could have one-way trail use from Horsetail Falls up toward Larch Mountain and down Multnomah Creek to Multnomah Lodge; and one way from Wahkeena Falls up and to the east toward Multnomah Creek and down to the Lodge. It would not prevent all passing, but signs could tell people to not pass until they got to a wide spot where it was safe. Same could occur in most wilderness and other forest areas. Also, trail users have the option of wearing masks.
As far as search and rescue being overwhelmed - it doesn't happen during normal times - no reason to think it would happen now.
Right! Campgrounds,Trailheads and day use areas are the only things closed. Cant shoot there anyway. While I agree with you for the most part, your missing the big picture the areas they have closed only make a fraction of the whole forest all that green area is still open. If you want to hike go to a closed gate and walk that road or just park somewhere and start hiking, you can intersect trails just dont park right by the trail head. You can pull over anywhere you have a earthen back stop with a safe sight distance and start shooting! Again not that I agree, but if they left those areas open they would be packed with people camping and hiking just like they did at the coast and Columbia Gorge.
Stay safe and go have some fun!!!
