Simply put, some people are irresponsible & ruin it for everyone else.

Some are more irresponsible than the simple few who are just "regular" irresponsible.

Go for a hike, be in shape & plan accordingly? Fine go ahead.

Hurt yourself, and need resources expended to help, including first responders, emergency care, hospital stay? Why would you do that?

Ad in alcohol & or drugs? Hurrah! Winner winner chicken dinner!

Go for an ATV, or off highway vehicle ride, responsibly and reasonably? Sure go on, you got this.

Problem is, some folks aren't doing so responsibly. Flip your ATV and "win" a chopper ride. Heck, why not? They all get paid to help, it's there "job".

Lotsa folks doing irresponsible stuff ATM, IMO moreso now than during "normalcy".

So, in short, give LEO & first responders a break. They're stretched thin as is. Moreso now that we're in the midst of non-normalcy.

Most hospitals in the region are still capable of caring for the rider whom flips over an embankment and has a compound femur fracture. Barely. Thankfully there's that.

It's honestly on the edge though, as far as expected care. No joking.

Thankfully, in Oregon, we aren't as hard hit nominally with the patient influx as some other States. However we are hit. Both due to care, and staffing shortages due to staff exposure & illness.

Truly on the edge.

And today on TV Gov. Inslee blasted President Trump's tweet to "liberate" parts of the country from stay-at-home orders, claiming Trump was fomenting a potentially deadly "insubordination" and encouraging illegal activity.

Sorry but I'm done with the people over playing this Virus.
I pretty much know I had it in December. Our circle of friends just got tested and she was positive. Most of us got sick. And we moved on.

Not being snarky here, but, LEO and first responders are stretched thin? From what? I mean, I haven't been watching news for three weeks or so? But when I've heard bits and pieces there has been no mention of a bunch of horrible things happening that has LEOs and first reponders running from incident to incident? As a matter of fact, talking to an emergency room doc friend of mine he's pretty much been at peace with the world without all the people thinking they have emergencies when they don't, flocking to his emergency room during his 12 hour shifts. Are they all sent home? Still getting paid? If someone on a hike falls is there no county sheriff's rescue team available? All helicopters and ambulances shuttled, locked away?

Maybe I'm missing something?

Your not missing anything. I agree 1000%.
But. I've witnessed folks with opinions on this virus that I wouldn't expect from them. The world has gotten much much more PC and soft from all this crap.

Lets get this straight they didn't shut down because we like going out there. They shut the jungle down because it saves lives of those who can't run as fast as a cougar that is hungry!!!:s0140:

I'm not saying it isn't STOOPID to go to the beach in a traffic jam and all pile out on the beach. But what the hell is it going to hurt for you and the wife/kids drive to a place in the forest, pull over where there's another car or three, and cut yourself a trail in the forest for an hour or so? Wifey and I did just that over Mt Hood last week. No one else in sight. Had we chosen to park and walk over a snowbank down toward Clear Lake or Trillium we'd have been completely alone. Except I feared Johnny Law would have given me a hard time! Or a ticket. We didn't see any LEOS, but my luck, we would have been made an example of. I HATE that!

Personal opinion you go out to the woods and screw up after being requested to stay home during this sickness dont expect someone to put themselves or their family at risk due your ignorance

While I agree with you for the most part, your missing the big picture the areas they have closed only make a fraction of the whole forest all that green area is still open. If you want to hike go to a closed gate and walk that road or just park somewhere and start hiking, you can intersect trails just dont park right by the trail head. You can pull over anywhere you have a earthen back stop with a safe sight distance and start shooting! Again not that I agree, but if they left those areas open they would be packed with people camping and hiking just like they did at the coast and Columbia Gorge.
Stay safe and go have some fun!!!

Make friends with someone who has a Yale key......;)

Your responsible. Fantastic! Keep on doing doing.

As to a concern over getting "hassled" by LEO, or getting a "ticket"?

So what.

Your responsible. Y'all won't get locked up, and truthfully your rights aren't infringed, however you need to determine if the "hassle" or "ticket" you "might" get is worthwhile to your enjoyment. Or not.

Others aren't responsible, is all I'm saying.

Don't be angry at me, be angry at the irresponsible amongst us.

As to LEO being stretched thin, it's my opinion. I'm not a LEO.

I simply extrapolated that they are running short from my personal work experience. Short staff due to illness/exposure for the last month. Plus the random notations from folks on here, not responding to what they normally would. Etc.

One thing that irritates me is people in my line of work or in my wife's (She's an RN) asking for more money or protesting conditions, etc. If you go into first response/medical/military, there are inherent risks and it won't always be a mundane day at work and you have a job to do, even when things go to schit. If you can't or won't do your job, QUIT!

Wait , what? I thought you were supposed to die because this a 'novel virus' and that term along with social shaming should have done you in. You must have 'gravitas' like Dick Cheney...

That doesn't answer the questions. If I'm in my yard, working, not in the house mind you, and hurt myself, does that make me ignorant? Damn load of ignorant people at Home Depot and Lowe's every day. Hope they don't hurt themselves. Ignorant bastiges.

There are libertarians and there are libertines. You speak of the latter. As long as they can continue their orgies, obsess over their porn, weed and cross dressing, they think they are free. America is a great nation because those liberties exist.
I'll be.

Call me slowjoe Cuz I no comprende.

The right to bellie dancing shall not be infringed?
Libertines are people with no moral compass. Typically the word is used in reference to people and their sexual appetite. A former OR governor and President come to mind. It extends way beyond hedonism.
So the problem is, in America we have God given rights and rights granted to us through interpretation of those. The ubiquity of porn, freedom of expression (i.e. belly dancing) are extensions of rights by interpretation.
While some people think those rights signify freedom and don't hesitate to bang the drum in limiting others, they are being small minded and stupid.
Problem is, with liberties like porn, weed, or being outlandishly different, those behaviors approach moral turpitude by the standard of decades past. With that comes a blurring of the lines, and those who love their hedonistic liberty wonder why there are mass killings and violence.
