The wife and I were just in Bend last weekend and hiked up Broken Top to Noname lake on Sunday. Didn't see the unfortunate Elk but heard about it later that evening as we made the circuit to just a few of the countless micro-breweries to be discovered in Bend.

crazy. it was a year or two ago a whole heard fell thru brownlee res. in eastern oregon.

this must mean that if we want to find elk, look where the avalances happen and where the lakes freeze.

Not near as bad as the pile of nearly complete, but headless ones, I found many years ago North of Redmond near Haystack Reservoir.
