I called them back and closed my account. I really didn't use it that much. Do you guys know of another paypal type online pay?

This isn't news, it has been that way for a long time. They also enforce this policy inconsistently.

I don't know of a gun friendly version of this service, but would love to know about one.

Hey we just landed on the moon!

i really don't see any sense hassling someone who may have just found this out and trying to help in good faith. it's good to have a refresher periodically and remind each other of those who elect to suppress 2nd Amendment rights. there continue to be new folks to the sport and cause each day and making light of their efforts is not helping. thanks, sagerat-shooter

This is why you place items for sale with the disclaimer "discreet paypal accepted"....and when the transaction is processed, those involved refer to the items being sold as wood working tools, or scrap booking materials.

Never keep $$ in a paypal account or they will freeze it until they decide you can have your $$ back

Old news anyway.

I buy guns and ammo with my Paypal debt card all the time. The receipts clearly state where the money has been spent.

But yes Firearms are one of the many things you can't use Paypal on line payment system for. This is due to their being a California corporation and subject to the laws of that state.

How does being a Cal corp make any difference? THEY are not buying the gun or ammo. So a credit card company based in CAL will refuse to allow the purchase? Or what if my bank in based in CAL I can't write a check? Or a MO from the Post Office? Where they are based has no bearing on the the transaction. They are antigun and don't want people buying guns and ammo with their service!!

Depending on how much they freeze you have the option to take them to small claims court - in your jurisdiction. They cannot freeze your cash because you violated their policy. The most they can do is cancel your account.
Best thing about small claims is that you do not need a lawyer and it is set up with that in mind.

A couple weeks ago
Bought Win 70 Barrel on EBay.
Paid for with Paypal.

EBay-PayPal doesn't want to be involved with firearms or parts that require 4473 or NFA, or stuff that goes boom.

When able, I use them because it reduces the risk of identity theft.

I buy firearm related things with them all the time. It is just forearms they won't process.
Until someone comes up with as good of security as they have I will switch to them.
To date they are the only game in town in that regard.
I have used them for 20 years + and about as pro gun, pro second amendment as anyone in this country.
Maybe even more !
I use them as an intermediary between sellers buyers and my bank.
I keep my money in my bank.
