I believe that is called the CIA perimeter alarm! Used to be anyway.
There are hundreds of variations, I used them to defend.....well... Something that, maybe, shouldn't have been growing in the backyard! Back in my disreputable youth, don't cha know. Worked very well, went off with a bang, just to encourage him vacating my property I released the Doberman! Actually got a piece of his pants on the cyclone fence!
