that's because Republicans do it behind your back. look up some bills that President Bush try to pass before he ran for president. not all Republicans are gun friendly. let's also not forget that President Bush also but further restrictions on military surplus ammo. a bill that President Obama let expire.

I will say this though, it will take democrats and republicans and everyone in between to put their differences aside and start working together to stop this. And the gun owning democrats are going to have to rise up as you are a minority in your party but I know there are plenty of you so you will need to stand up to those you elected for what ever reason it was that you elected them and tell them to stop it .

Take out the non P.C. humor and pay attention to what Gator really is saying you pro gun rights Dems and Liberals!
Whatever gains that have been made on the Social/Enviro Liberal side are not going to disappear if the Dems lose the majority or "GASP!", Republicans gain a majority in Oregon. It will never happen. Stop being paranoid! Pot does that to you don't you know! LOL
What would happen might be a small slowdown of the additional increase in these types of "Social Justice" things.
A breather so to speak, a re- balance of power.
The Extreme Liberals have everybody thinking the planet will burn up, abortion and birth control will be illegal, your daughters will be sexually harassed and discriminated against, minorities will be "put back in chains" as Biden said, and Schools and public sector Unions will be dismantled if the Dems don't stay in power.

I'm sure you don't believe the Republicans would be able to do all that in one or two terms even if they were hell bent on accomplishing that do you? Do you really think that?

What the Dems who have been in power a long, long time seem hell bent on accomplishing at the moment is Gun registration and extreme CA style restrictions.

I am both a liberal and a conservative, if you think that isn't possible then you don't understand the meaning of either.

The modern democratic party is not liberal, but is progressive. If you are a true liberal (or libertarian) today in Oregon, you should be voting Republican. Tomorrow will likely be different, but for now this is definitely the case.

I agree that in the current two party system we are screwed, the best we can hope for is to play one off the other. But in the end that will lead to the worst of both worlds, unless we can re-introduce the primary concern of the true versions both liberal and conservative political philosophies, which is to limit the power of government.

In the short term look at this way, if you vote democrat, they will take your guns, and after that, the rest of your freedom; if you vote republican, you will get to keep your guns, and when the mob of religious fanatics shows up at your door to tell you who you can have sex with, you can shoot back.
