Oregon legislators are meeting today in Salem. Please take a few minutes to tell them you want action in 2016 to end gun violence. Legislators' emails, phone numbers and our talking points are listed below.

The momentum in Oregon to stop gun violence is very strong but Oregon legislators will only act in 2016 by hearing a loud message from you.




What: Take a few minutes today to send a message to your legislators.
Why: Your message will influence the gun violence prevention bills that legislators choose to consider in 2016.
How: The names, phone numbers and emails are listed below along with talking points but it's good to use your own words.
When: Please call or email today. Then call again because the gun lobby does. (Print out this sheet as a handy reference for next time.)

Talking points:

1. In the aftermath of Oregon's largest mass shooting, we expect our legislators to take significant action to stop gun violence.
   
   
2. The short legislative session in 2016 is not an excuse. The gun violence is continuing in our homes, streets and neighborhoods.
   
   
3. Please consider legislation that will increase standards of gun ownership, require all firearms to be secured, close the "Charleston loophole," limit gun purchases to one per month, and impose a "cooling off" period between time of gun sale and possession to deter suicide and impulse shootings.

If legislators REALLY want to take steps to end gun violence, they should do ONE thing.

Pass a law that says anyone caught committing a violent crime with a gun will be jailed, and have to undergo forced visitations from Kate Brown and Tina Kotek on alternating days for the duration of their sentences.

And if they get caught a second time, we're gonna throw Ginny Burdick in the mix!

For those of you with Democrat Senators and Representatives, it's imperative that you call and voice your opposition to more gun control laws. To not call, is giving direct support to ceasefire and validating the claim that their constituents are 100% FOR more gun control legislation. You have more power than you think. In fact, all of us should be calling Brian Clem and reminding him how he was used by his party last session.

Like background checks not doing a THING unless felons attempting to purchase and failing a BGC are tracked down and arrested, and gun registration....

This too will fail unless there is a "strap-on" threat from these particular government visitors.

I'm a little disappointed that there weren't more replies. The point of my post was to see how many actually bothered to call. Ceasefire members are calling the Governors office. Why aren't more of us doing the same?
