At least none of their laws matter with how police respond to anything anymore...

If exercising your fundamental rights makes you a criminal, that makes the law makers a tyrant.

This didnt happen a generation ago... Guns are more regulated now than anytime in history.
The gun debate is just the distraction for normies and a means to an end for the powers that be.

We are a sick, decaying, dying society and these outbursts of random violence are a symptom of that... But so is the rise of street crime & other targeted violence... 100k+ overdose deaths, record suicide rates & single parent families... Abortion rates, low graduation rates., etc.

We have destroyed generations of young people by disincentivising success & rewarding mediocrity... We've destroyed family structrures and demonized pride & self-reliance. We have allowed our kids to be corrupted with gender & sexual degeneracy. We have normalized drug culture, shunned tradition....

This isn't random crazies shooting people just because & the response isnt simply well meaning yet ignorant people wanting a solution.

This is the late stages of the planned destruction of America and everything it stood for.

Repunlicans, democrats, black, white, Christian, Atheist.... Everyone has had a hand in this.

This period, right now is like the 1st biopsy before finding out you body is terminally riddled with cancer.
Quoted for truth.

A strategic retreat by the Senate Republicans. We all know the lunacy of doubling down on background checks that aren't funded downstream and there's no enforcement, but dead kids have a way of getting frothy voters and this could very easily erase all the gains to neuter the Socialist Left. The GOP has no choice but to collaborate/not obstruct fully. So what's likely to pass? They'll push the background checks on everything. They'll do something on red flag laws (THAT should scare people, but we have to see what it looks like and what the courts would do) and possibly raising the age of purchase (which screws a lot of decent young people, but this country has a habit of sacrificing decent young people for stupid causes....)

Republicans have to tamp down the momentum of Dem voters on this issue. None of us have to like it, but it's the smart play for the long gain.

We just need Roberts to quit being a p***y and hear Duncan v. Bonta.

There is never a long gain. ANYTHING given up is never given back.

The best path is to stall proceedings as long as possible, hoping to get to the midterms before anything comes up for final vote...

Then if Rs take either chamber, then start pushing school safety regs. Etc... But absolutely ZERO should be given up on gun rights.

And raising the age? What the bubblegum does being an adult mean anymore?

You turn 18 and all you get is the govt can send you to war ... And you can go into debt.

Debt & death.

No guns, no smokes, no booze, can't even rent a car... Hell you cant even afford to live on your own anymore.

Something feels different, too many gun ownwers seem to be hopping on board the 2A hate train. I am worried that somebody is going to cave and at minimum the 18-21 crowd are screwed.

Historically speaking, we are ripe for revolution/civil war, etc.

Unprecedented civil & political division, failing economy, huge energy prices, unaffordable housing, rising inflation, weakness abroad, curtailing of rights at home, social polarization, etc.

What country/empire throughout history has made it through such times unscathed?

None. however; Britain, Europe, China, Russia, Japan, India, North Africa (including Egypt) and Middle East all have had their cultures evolving and keeping up, but governments are always changing

Right, even back to Rome... The Empire stands but there were dramatic changes over the years, violent upheavals, etc.

America as a nation may survive intact... but for better or worse, it will change.

It will be a battle of extremes, a la the Spanish Civil War... I'll keep my fingers crossed for a fascist takeover vs a communist one 👍

We may get scathed but not enough people are going to go along for the revolution ride/civil war ride.

Heres what I predict is far more likely. A "reorganization" of the Federal Congress system and the banning of a certain Party, and the institution of UN "oversight/transition" as the Constitution is completely rewritten to "better fit the modern times" several States may decide its high time to secede or openly rebel.

Well said, wired. That is my expectation as well. I think a 21 year age limit to purchase a long gun is a given. However - I think Washington-style "red flag laws" and/or Washington-style private sales bans nationwide are possible also. Equally likely, some kind of "ghost gun" language. Depending on how the political winds blow and how big of a rush there is to get "something done", this could well end up with the same size and scope as the 1968 GCA.

The Ghost gun thing is already a done deal. I really and truly doubt they will go as far as the 68 GCA did in similar scope. What I think the ultimate push will be for is NFA ( Not NFA like... just NFA ) registration for anything semi auto or capable of accepting a detachable magazine. Maybe even with a reduction in fees to make it more palatable.

Yeah, you're right. "same size and scope as the 1968 GCA" was probably over dramatizing things a bit. Still, the anti's have quite a laundry list and won't likely settle for any sort of quick and simple remedy.

Not only did this lunatic pass a background check (along with finding the single opened door) Chris Dorner pass a LAPD background investigation and likely held a Top Secret clearance from his Navy days.

I think the public push back should be on all government failures leading up to these events and demand those agencies start being held accountable. Also the NRA needs to stay out. They are the Jesse Jackson of the gun culture. Where are those A rated politicians now? A background check is certified by government yet government keeps blaming the gun and not their overreach spy tools. Not only for school shootings but domestic and gang shootings.

While the ATF is worried I might shoulder a 10.5 inch pistol, yet another maniac either walks on a subway, church or school and hells bells, they know he's a goofball. Government needs to do their part before further infringements.

Likely theyll do a 'buy back'... Especially since favorite thing, after disarming innocent civilians... Is printing money.

Nows the time to buy some cheapo rifles or get some cheap lowers and build crap from your spare parts... You know they'll pay out more than its worth. So build/buy some throw aways and wait to cash in
