"He told court officials he's spent the last three to four months between Portland, Sacramento and Reno, looking for work."

More then likely hauling drugs up here then looking for work.

Yep, amazing how well laws prevent felons from getting guns and committing more crimes. I wonder, just for thought, what would happen if they actually tried locking up felons, rather than continually putting them back on the streets?

Transferring a firearm without a background check is an Oregon felony.
Wait till they take someone doing that to court. They'll put him in jail and throw away the key. And, he won't be released early.

Actually, a private transfer, under SB941, is only a misdemeanor for the first offense. 2nd offense, then, yes, it becomes a felony. But we don't know how he got the gun yet. Did he buy it? From whom? Was it a private transfer? Straw purchase? Did he steal it? Did he even get it in Oregon? There is a lot of information that is missing from the story at this point. I'd like to hear more once they know more, but it's likely we won't get that update.

Even so no matter how he got the gun they will never arrest him for having a gun. NOW isn't that the whole issue with more gun control ZERO consequence's for felons just the lose of liberty for lawful citizens.
