I really don't give a crap what you remember, This is at The mallard landing apts. in Salem. This guy has several SS numbers, as do most of the maintenance staff the owner employs, they take out SS and FICA out of his pay check, and I repeat NO TAXES, and gets a free apartment off the books, the complex owner is a Portland lawyer who is a advocate for illegals, and owns several apt complexes in Salem, Eugene, and Portland, and is the same nationality as the illegal. About 6 months ago one of his employees was arrested for beating his wife, drunk driving and no DL, this being a sanctuary state he was given a free trip home to visit his relatives and was back 3 weeks later with new ID and SS numbers living with his wife, and working at the complex...Wake up and smell the roses this happens all the time in Oregon, how friggin' naive of you............:s0112:

I was just merely pointing out the fact that you obviously must have gone to a severely underfunded public school and judging by the childish response I must be correct!

I do not need to wake up as I know what the illegals are doing and capable of. Now I see why you are soo in favor of the teachers as you are one of the children that was "LEFT BEHIND" , how sad.

You haven't been negotiating your own way through life. You've been subsidized at every step by those who came before you, and by the taxpayers who paid for, and helped pay for your education. All of the opportunities you have are provided by those who came before you, and by those who pay taxes now.

If this country were like most countries, there wouldn't even be a demand for lawyers. If we go bust, and we may, lawyers will be the first to be out of work. Lawyers are a luxury to people who are hungry. Courts need working taxpayers to support them and so do police.

During the Great Depression, my Dad tells me that the state of Florida had to terminate all of its State Police, and that his town had to terminate all of its police. He tells me that the only law around was the sheriff, but there were no deputies. He tells me that his town of Palatka had to close its jail.

In those days there were no public defenders and it's a good thing because they couldn't have paid them.

Public defenders are a luxury only recently possible because of the wealth of this nation, which was created by free enterprise. Believe me, if we have another depression, a lot of things will change overnight and you will be like a deer in the headlights.

Yep, I know that... the smart thing for me to do would be to learn how to do plumbing, welding, electrical work, or some other specialized skill that would remain useful no matter how our society changes.

But even though it may prove to be a dumb and deadly gamble, I'm betting on our country sticking around long enough for me to do something that I'm interested in. And I'm willing to let the chips fall where they may. One reason I have guns... I will at least be a handy guy to have around in a neighborhood without many gun owners (i.e. anywhere I've ever, or will likely ever, live).

Well good. You'll be able to take food away from all of the anti-gunners. You won't even have to sue them for it. :s0155:

Talk about childish, You just proved Mark Twain right. "It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt." You do know who Mark Twain was, right ???...............:s0092:

:D:D Dag gone it sucks to be me sometimes:s0112::s0112: I tend to think out what people say and your last sentence kinda struck me. So you will be the handy one with a gun so that means when trouble comes you will have to be the first one to meet it every time as those you chose to run with are incapable. eerrr don't do many future plans in that scenario :D:D

Public defender kinda has a ring to it, keep at it. You fit the profile.

Have the girls in Eugene dropped that awnatural look they had back when I lived there? Couldn't stand to go out to the nightclubs and see women waveing their arms in the air and their armpits looked like the had muskrats stuck to them. Man I hated Eugene.

First real dose of liberalism I had ever seen and most of them were anti gun.

You're mistaking Eugene for Paris France. They say that the mind is the second thing to go. :D

But they both have nice handguns.

Sure, and everybody but the public employee unions and their stooges believes we should use use private-sector derived techniques to increase efficiency as much as possible. I know a lot of folks here believe that large government is anathema to the American way of life, but I believe it's part and parcel of life in a modern industrialized democracy. In such democracies, government thrives when it manages to display the best attributes of the citizens it represents - among them responsibility, compassion, thrift, accountability, and rationality.

The government as a whole is a long, long way from living up to this vision, but there are shining spots throughout - from the thousands small-town fire, police, and parks departments that are honestly and thriftily run all the way up to multi-billion dollar federal agencies that manage to outperform the private sector.

California's situation is showing that "starving the beast" can't possibly work, because there are so many fixed costs (pensions and employee health insurance are the big ones here, but Cali's "unique" system of government has left it with a budget almost entirely composed of constitutionally-mandated spending) that budget cuts will always result in state employee layoffs and service cuts that do immeasurable harm.

The solution is for political parties and politicians to quit all of their grandstanding, propagandizing, and pie-in-the-skie rhetoric and start doing the hard work (and stepping on the toes) required to change the way necessary public services are delivered.

Unfortunately, it ain't gonna happen...

First of all, we live in a Republic not a Democracy. So at what in point in history do you see the proof that a larger gov't is a good thing? The proof is in the pudding, since 1776 we've seen the greatest country in the world form from men and women having the freedom to pave their own path without gov't interference. So now that that system has made America what it is, we should now scrap that system because we're so developed? You mean like the gov't system in France or Spain? You bring up California, how's that big gov't entitlement system working? How's the limited gov't system of Texas working? One state is on the verge of bankruptcy with businesses fleeing the state in droves while the other has a 20 billion dollar surplus with 0 income taxes. What exactly are you drawing your information from that gives big gov't a proven track record? How's those socialist and communist societys worked? Aren't those the pinnacle of what you speak of?

:D I have never been to France but I have lived in Eugene (if you call that living) but I know Eugene is not France. Nobody was speaking french there:s0112::s0112: Man if French women are as hairy as the ones in Eugene then no wonder the men surrender all the time, what have they got to go home to??

Eugene is a real anti gun community and a picture perfect of a socialist society.

Thomas Jefferson wrote that we as Americans have two things to fear, criminals and government. History shows us the millions upon millions of people killed by socialist governments but still people are too stupid to keep government small. It might be Darwinian in a sense that those people be killed off by their own government for being stupid enough to elect them.

What is it that drives people to support a government power over themselves rather than have the freedon to achieve what their ability allows them? Government doesn't solve problems, they are the problem. It's been pointed out for decades yet people still let them get bigger so again it must be societies way of thining itself out. Being stupid can be fatal.
