Is your DeLux model like mine Jim? I haven't seen this Ruger stock very often.

Close, mine is shorter. I saw that model but opted for the short stock version.

I think everyone should one at least one 10/22.

First gun I shot was my dads 10/22.

My favorite gun to shoot is my 10/22.

Nothing better than a day spent with one little box of 22 shells and a 10/22. Yep a day at the range can be had with a little box. That's why I love it.

As for loading the magazines, maglulu has been teasing their loader for almost an an entire two years now. I'll buy one the moment it is releases. The other loaders on the market are decent at best. If maglulu is anything like their other loaders, I'm sure it will be awesome.

As others have said, about the only thing that may give you problems being an older model is the extractor. That's an easy swap and there are many manufacturers that make really good ones.

Otherwise leave it alone!

That 40 year old 10/22 is a much nicer rifle than the ones they make now at a better price. You made out pretty good.

I know Vernonia is a bit of a drive, but join us First Sundays at TriCounty for Steel. You'll need 5 magazines -10 rnd, or 3 of the 30 rounders - or some combo. Speed Steel at Tri County Gun Club
