It's only $25, and (I think) has almost no legal consequences beyond nominal protection against 594/ SB 941. If worried your girlfriend will someday seek alimony or claim other benefits, at least consider having you both sign the form and retaining a notarized copy.

Thanks, ocarolan--I trust her more than that, I just don't want to put her in a situation where *either* of us accepts more responsibility for the other than we're ready for, and I don't want to create complications for my German friend since she has a guy back home she'd be going back to.
