.357 Ruger or S&W with a 3" barrel

I'm looking to buy a 357 with a 3" barrel wheel gun. Seems my gun guy can't find any S&W's because they were a short run item. Yet when I talk to S&W they say they have a 686+ with a 3" barrel. Anyway... I'm also looking at the Ruger GP100 with the 3" barrel

What's the differance and why is the Ruger less expensive? I'm leaning towards the Ruger.

Might want to look into a S&W model 65 with a three-inch tube and round butt, they're pretty sweet pop-guns. They can be had for around $500 for a great one if you look hard enough.
