Dan Wesson .44 pistol pack w/belt buckle.

"not so long ago".....I had a NIB complete DW 22 revolver set with 4 barrels, all the stuff in the original box including belt buckle; most of the barrels had not even been out of their original factory paper wrap;

It took a long time to obtain them; rare as I'd never even seen another such set;
after bringing the little bundle home....THEN having to decide between what to do with it...shoot/not shoot......shoot/not shoot.....etc.

I'm very much surprised that DW revolvers aren't as collectible as some others... great shooters, extremely well built, and becoming increasingly more scarce... yet valued at much less than comparable S&W and Colts. Fine by me tho... more for us!

I like your lists, but I can't list a top ten to save my butt!
Outdoor/field; I really regretted selling my 686+ and was looking for a replacement when I tripped across a Model 69 44 Mag.
With it I cover two bases. Power of the Big Honkin Revolver, similar pain of the Snubbie 357!
:s0095:

I hear you on the hard to only have 10. If I "had to" do this the first 8 or 9 would be easy. It would be deciding on what did not stay at the end would take some time :)
As for the .44 Mag i'm not a wheel gun guy but I still some times miss having a 29. The really nice thing about a nice .44 is how versatile they can be. Since few are going to be using nothing but factory at the price it runs. Rolling your own in a large .44 you can make loads to do almost anything.

I've had numerous 686s in various lengths; they are such a good design it's hard to fault them.
They also sell very easily and somehow mine always brought more than I paid after a couple seasons of enjoyment. Currently all out of 686. Surprised how close in physical size they are to Python. Could use the speed loaders from one to fit well the other and vice/versa.
Always felt solid using 686 in such as ICORE; was a bit reluctant to 'abuse' the Python in such matches.

Bowling pin matches is the most demanding use I have for a 44, and the versatility of the caliber is extensive. It doesn't make sense for a revolver guy to NOT have a 44 mag....yet for my own 'range use' there is little practical difference with 45LC/45acp; 41 mag;44 special.

Desert Eagle - all barrels n bolts
1911 in .45acp
1911 in 9mm
Beretta 92
Glock 17/19
AR in 9mm
AR in 300blk
Ruger GP100 SS 6" .357
Ruger MK2 competition .22lr
S&W 500 8-10" barrel

I agree 100% although I might replace the DE's with another wheel gun, HK USP .45, FN 57, or another AR pistol in 5.56.

For me, only a couple I think everyone should own:

92FS 9mm

1911 (only in 45)

Glock-any model/caliber preferably 9mm

A wheel gun in .357
(preferably stainless)

A .22LR or .380 pocket pistol.. to some that would be a 21a, lcp2, tcp..etc. there are all sorts of flavors of those types of firearms.. but a small mouse gun is always good to have around and good to have for CC

Aside from those, the rest to me are all optional.

These belong on the list to:

Smith and Wesson Model 19, 6"
Smith and Wesson Model 19, 2-1/2"
Smith and Wesson Model 14, 6"
Smith and Wesson Model 19-3, 3", Fixed Sights
Smith and Wesson Model 17, 6"
Smith and Wesson Model 17, 8-3/8"
Smith and Wesson Model 48, 6" &
Smith and Wesson Model 48, 8-3/8"
Smith and Wesson Model 24, 6-1/2"
Smith and Wesson Model 60-4, 3" Target
Smith and Wesson Model 35, 6"
Smith and Wesson Model 16-4, 8-3/8"

I guess I'll call this Part 2.

S&W 686 - 6" barrel (6 or 7 shot)
SA 1911, Wilson Combat trigger
CZ 75 P-01
Any .22 revolver, 4" barrel, double action, 9 or 10 shot
Browning Hi Power, Belgian
Ruger Mk II or III
Luger 9mm (matching numbers not needed - just a shooter)
Colt Woodsman 1952
S&W 638 .38 P+ snub, shrouded hammer
My next one - no idea yet what it might be, maybe a .44 mag revolver with 6-8" barrel to go with the lever gun.

Got some of my top 10:
Beretta 89 .22
Smith & Wesson 41 .22
CZ-75 Tactical Sport 9mm
Smith & Wesson 686 .357 Magnum 4" barrel (purchased in 1983)
Sig Sauer Super Target 1911 .45ACP

Not sure how I'd fill out the last 5 - Python's are stupid pricey, not a Glock guy - maybe a S&W .22 revolver, Beretta 92 in 9mm and .22, a real 1911 in .22 and a high end 1911 in 9mm - but there's nothing I'm really anxious to get.

My list is somewhat NFA oriented.

HK MP5-k
Mauser C-96 or Schnellfeur model 712
Beretta 92FS or 93R

S&W revolver (14/19/27/28/29/36/66/686)

Honorable mentions:

Sig P226/228/210
Glock 17 or 19
HK P9S
S&W model 41
Walther PPK just because of "007". Not a great gun otherwise.
Walther P-38
Colt 1903 or some other vintage pocket pistol

Add suppressors to most of the modern ones on my list.
