Just think... if state law didn't demand a NO GUNS (read: goldfish bowl) policy for taverns and such, how many would-be perps might reconsider the idea of trying to rob such a place?

Not sure if it is written law, I do know my instructor advises against carrying in a tavern for obvious reasons...but watch this, then tell me if anyone cares. I made my decision on "no gun zone" establishments.....I'll leave it at that.

So you decided you need a gun to protect yourself from the illegals here selling drugs and shooting up neighborhoods. Who's job was this to begin with ? Who says it's allright for them to stay?

If you or your family get killed then who is responsible?

I choose to carry a gun because others made the poor choice of letting criminals into this country.

The obvious reason would be the poor choice of mixing alcohol with carrying a firearm (which I agree is stupid) which makes my choice of not drinking an obvious one. I've seen that video before and that gal makes those politicians (poly-tics) and the Brady Boy look like the fools they are.

Because I read the paper and watch the news....this is just the beginning of a long thread.

Bullet fired into NE Salem house nearly hits sleeping child

A bullet fired at a northeast Salem home late Sunday penetrated an exterior wall, passing about a foot above a sleeping 6-year-old’s head, officials said.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to several calls of shots being fired in the 400 block of Larussa Court NE about 10 p.m., sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Sheila Lorance said.

Two bullets had hit the home where the girl slept, Lorance said. One stuck in an outdoor fence but the other passed through the girl’s bedroom wall, Lorance said.
No one was injured and deputies don’t think the family was the intended target of the shots, Lorance said.
Investigators determined four to five shots had been fired. Another round hit a porch railing of a house in the 4600 block of Auburn Road NE, Lorance said.
Deputies are asking for help to find a potential witness, described as a woman with dark curly hair possibly wearing a hat and jacket, who was seen in the area before the shooting.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (503) 588-5032.

because it took the cops way too long to respond to this incident.

My uncle was once in a lawyers office and they needed to go into a different room to make a deposition. The lawyer suggested the my uncle leave his jacket in the first room. My uncle declined, the lawyer asked why and my uncle informed him that he had a gun in the jacket pocket. (legally carried, he had a permit) The lawyer asked why he had a gun. "To shoot the SOB that wants to take my money".

I DO NOT leave my house to go anywhere, even the mailbox, anymore without my firearm. I'll do everything in my power to protect my family and friends in everyway nessessary. Legal or not!!!

Reminds me of a guy I kinda new at my old apartment complex years ago......he was bar tending at the old Suzie's across from triangle....dude came in after close and stabbed him to death.

I first bought guns after moving to Oregon for something fun to do. My son had just turned twelve and we did not have any friends here. I got him a Ruger 10/22 and myself a G19. We went up in the hills to shoot pop cans for something to do. Of course, it was lots of fun and so we bought more guns to shoot, and they were even more fun. I got my CHL just because I could. No way you can get a CHL in Hawaii.

Then I started reading forums like this one and you guys freaked me out so now I have lots of guns and lots of ammo. It is all your fault. :p

I have the arms needed to protect my family and then some. So the guns I buy today are back to the original reason. Because my son and I still enjoy going up in the hills and have fun together shooting pop cans.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – "If you don't kill the criminals, they will all come back," a Haitian police officer shouts over a loudspeaker in the country's most notorious slum, imploring citizens to take justice into their own hands.

The call for vigilantes comes as influential gang leaders who escaped from a heavily damaged prison during the country's killer earthquake are taking advantage of a void left by police and peacekeepers focused on disaster relief.
...much of the neighborhood's security will be in the hands of local populations, who are forming night brigades and machete-armed mobs to fight bandits across the capital.

Because it could happen here.

My mention above of not carrying into taverns, bars, etc, is based on Washington law, where I live. I can carry in a restaurant or similar facility where alcohol is served along with food, and where minors can legally be. BUT-- when it comes to an age-restricted establishment where alcohol is served and no minors are allowed, I can't, legally. Haven't studied the background of this law, but its likely to "reduce" the likelihood of drunks getting sloppy and shooting up the joint. These days, however, bar brawls are rare things. Many folk will go to a tavern, sit and watch a game whilst downing a pint, never getting even too drunk to legally drive. BUT-- the law is on the books, and I understand it IS enforced when a violation becomes evident. Signs in the establishments spell it out. I think its any place governed by a Class 111 liquor license. Even concealed with a permit is prohibited, per the signs I've seen. I didn't happen to be carrying the time I stopped in for fish and chips on the road... only place open.

I can see the thinking that led to the law, but WHY does the government have to make the worst case scenario and resultant out of control behaviour the governing norm for all of us? I don't drink to excess, most times in such a place I don't drink at all. How about changing the law to be something like drivinng.. over a certain level of drunk, if you're caught with a firearm on your person, you're in trouble. Until then, just as with a car, you're on your own judgement. Stupid socialists, wanting to control and fix every aspect of our lives. It is against precisely this sort of thinking we NEED to remain armed, lest they continue to carry things too far. Arms are the key to a limited government. So say our Founding Fathers.

I carry guns because it is my right and duty to protect liberty, not just my own but that of my fellow Americans. So if that freedom and liberty is challenged I have the freedom and right to put down those who would try to steal or take away said rights. I as an American citizen have pledged allegiance to this country and the Republic for which it stands and as such will and would and have protected mine and your rights. I carry guns because a well armed militia is necessary to keep the government of freedom loving people, mindful of who is in charge and that we the people are ready to defend our freedoms.

I carry guns because my fathers carried guns and paid for this land with their life blood and insured our rights to freedom. I carry guns because I respect the rights of all to protect them selves from tyranny and a lawless society who thinks they are entitled to what I have worked hard for and are willing to take my life to get it. I carry guns because there are those out there who have lost their humanity and believe that life has no meaning, not mine yours or anyone's! I carry guns because if given the choice I would rather not be a victim of some wannbe thug. I carry guns because I can make a difference in rather 10 people get shot or 30 as we have seen in some rampages. I carry guns for the banner of freedom and liberty and am willing to give my life for it, not just my freedom but yours as well. I carry guns because if I am shot at, I want those shooting to know the price for their actions.

I carry guns because we are the modern day minute men of today, If our troops are deployed to far away lands and we are over extended who else will defend the homeland? Every hunter, every target shooter has prepared for and trained for years in the handling of their firearms they are homeland security and not some Gooberment agency! 80,000,000 man army, every man, woman and child who has grown up around and used firearms has trained for this very mission. I carry guns because; true gun control is never having to say I missed you!
