This one sounds like someone maybe have wanted to retrieve them later?

Still, wouldn't it be better to just bury them?

I doubt the LEOs will find they were used in a crime - they were .50 BMGs, and I don't think those are used very often to mug someone.

More than likely they were stolen, and no run of the mill criminal wanted to buy them.

Well strange no barrels wouldn't that be part of the weapons fingerprint ? The shell and bolt face could be used but when you shoot that distance you are most likely never going to match that stuff up. This is next level stuff like out of a Clacey novel!

"Florida boy reels in .50-caliber Barrett sniper rifles while fishing"
By Sarah Sicard

I guess Sarah didn't read this thread

Saw another video on YouTube about this guy doing some magnet fishing and he pulled up 14-15 unused rounds of something. They appeared to be 40mm grenades, but I don't know. The funny/stupid thing about the whole video was that he was worried about them exploding/going off but he kept handling them and banging them into other objects.
