Where are all the cheap (inexpensive) revolvers?

Have revolvers always been so pricey? I seem to remember them being a bit less expensive early 2000s.

I wouldn't mind picking one up but hell even the .22 lr revolvers are $500+ for use S&W.

It seems like there was a glut on the market 20-30 years ago, nice revolvers for cheap, when all the police agencies were switching over to autos. I bought a really nice S&W 586 for $250 back in the late '90s. Even with inflation, that's still under $500.

You can buy a new .38 Chiefs Special 637 for $429 on GB. How cheap do you need need it?

Edit: you won't notice the burr after I tune it with a dremel and a rasp file.
