My friend found this little device mounted in an old workbench. He writes: "The slotted screw, when tightened, will suck it down flush to the workbench surface. The spring that's in there keeps it in the 'up' position as seen in the photo. If you look closely you'll see some tiny round birdshot next to the mechanism. Pretty sure this work bench was used as a reloading station for ammo. So don't know if this mystery bench dog thing had a more specific application for reloading shells."
Is this some reloading apparatus? If not, does anyone know what it is?
