What propellant is this

What propellant is this. I recently got some surplus ammo for my cartridge display. Two of the cartridges which I am to believe are 1943 vintage cases had this spaghetti looking propellant in them with a paper plug.
I'm quite amazed since I've never seen it before.

@Knobgoblin nailed it. According to Wikipedia (if you believe it) has a photo showing .303 Brit manufactured in 1964 with Cordite filaments. Definitely an interesting find...

I just checked a few minutes ago and yes indeed it's marked as 303 British.
