Just got a Walther P99AS 40cal. in a trade and am thinking about using it as a carry gun .... Is there any kind of safety on it ? As I would like to carry it with one in the chamber .... Or maybe it does not need one ??? Just not familiar with the type of gun ... but want to be ... Thanks for your help ....

    Doug,

    Try these links:

    http://www.armorysupply.com/walther.html

    http://www.remtek.com/arms/walther/model/p99/index.htm

    Walther P99: "The Safety Systems":

    http://www.lenaburgs.net/james/Guns/P99Manual.pdf

This forum thread(post #36)discusses the heavier DA pull on the AS as being part of the gun's safety system:

    Then there's http://www.waltherforums.com

It has a section on the P99-do some searching on there and you're bound to find something that addresses your question and a lot more.
