President Obama sure sold a bunch.

Speaking of Mr. change. I here Obama changed the name of Mt McKinley.
It got me to thinking.

Maybe I should refer to the AR Rifle. As the OR Rifle?
Obama wants his legacy? Let's give him his TRUE legacy. The mass proliferation of the Obama Rifle!

I guess the term Black rifle is still OK?
Just don't go saying it in a way that sounds racist!

Hahah, he sure did sold a bunch of rifles and ammo. as for Mt. McKinley, it simply got its original name back, the name that its have had for a LONG time before this century actually..... that of Denali. However, I can say it does seem to be a little bit politically motivated as the person for whom the mountain was named for, was a Republican who voted for high tariffs and keeping the Gold Standard before his assassination, and before VP Theodore Roosevelt took over his presidency.....

I wonder what is next. As for the OP....... I haven't seen a $400 AK for a few years............... where they hiding at!? ;) (I've seen $200 SKS and some a little less, most a little more, decent really)

I think in the future if the liberal anti-gun trend continues the SKS will true be a poor mans AK. Why modifications on the SKS must follow standards of compliance the are still found anywhere and everywhere for around $350.00 on up to 600.00 . I have a very funny feeling the AK and the AR and respected ammo will be next . And I hope I am wrong.

So many people in the younger generations never-even heard of the freedoms that they do not have; methodically being conditioned into total congruence, as the Port Huron Statement requires...

I grew up way back when in California as a kid when there and Oregon were not that different.
You could buy a gun on the street from anyone and there was no background checks, waits or limits on what you could own. They also taught gun safety in school, imagine that California training for gun safety in schools. The children being born today will be adults in 2035 ish about the time we are predicted to be starting to deplete what oil is left and then start digging into reserves. In 20 years I think I will still be here pretty good chance I will but in the last 20 so much has happened I am not looking forward to the next 20. I love living in the United States as a free man. I am not sure what that will mean in 20 years, or if it will even exist.
Our future has allot of question marks ??????????????????????????????

Perhaps it's a good idea to look back a few years from time to time to be reminded of how bad it was in the months right after SH. Many things in terms of price and availability have improved since then, but we're always just another 'event' away from causing another panic. All thanks to the MSM and Politicians - they do a great job keeping ammo and gun manufacturers in business.

Maybe we should send Obama a thank you note for keeping the gun industry thriving and growing throughout his presidency.

I would, if I had the extra cash right now, stock up on some cheap AR's and 10/22's to sell off during the next panic - maybe I could retire early. I remember stock 10/22's in 2013 going for $500-$600 and getting snapped up quickly at that price.

SOME people :D were privy to stories and shown pictures of life during the depression; etching the sense of self-sufficiency into their DNA.

One episode of the Waltons should make even the thickest-minded viewer a "prepper"

My in-laws grew up in the 30's and still vividly remember how hard it was to survive. My MIL lived for a time in a tin lean-to type shack. They often went without food and when they did, it was meager. If you were lucky, you might get a couple of birds to cook for dinner, if you had the ammo for your shotgun. Her father couldn't find stable work for years, up until WWII, when they relocated to Oregon so he could get a job in the ship yards. They didn't really recover from it until post WWII. But yes, they still carry those memories, and the mindset, into their 80's.

I remember as a kid mom and dad making a big night about going out for a burger, and if we ever went to the drive-in it was like you won the lottery. I grew up and appreciated every thing I had, I still do. My firearms are not just some toys to me it means allot to my freedom and liberty. So why I do joke about hording, to me its survival as some day I may not be able to buy ammo or firearms and what I have now means allot. It human nature, people want what they dont have and when they have it they want more, that thinking is what causes wars and causes decay of life. I think we are in a place in the world where decay is beginng and in 200 years we may not even recall how well it once was.

Try less than 20 not 200.
today is a far cry from the 50's and 60's. Socialism / Marxism and Communism have oozed into our nation so much, today is not even close to the freedoms we had in the 50's and first half of the 60's.
People today have not a clue. :(
More is lost every year and the youth are being taught to bring it on more. "They know not what they do"

I guess I was trying to communicate in 200 years, the USA will look like Ancient Rome ruins.
Not just dismantled but gone. Human have done it before and looks like a few thousand years later we are at the gates again.

It's called the great unlearning

Interesting video. Sadly very true.

It's amazing to me when I watch the news or even just watch interactions in public, the ability to have a rational discussion or debate, with each side presenting their argument, then discussing the merits of or issues with those ideas, has been replaced by the yelling game.

All you have to do is look at what happened with Bernie Sanders a few weeks ago when the Black Lies Matter folks shouted him down. You saw it in Ferguson. You are seeing it all over. Whoever shouts the loudest wins. Whoever gets the most re-Tweets wins. Whoever gets the most views, hits or shares, wins. Logic, reason, facts and common sense have nothing to do with it. It's all about the soap box. And if your soap box is bigger and louder than everyone else, then no matter whether your argument or claim is valid or not, you win.

We are also in a world that is afraid of truth, afraid of absolutes. We are run by the ideology of moral relativism - whatever I think is right, is true. Whatever you think is right, is true (unless you believe something we don't like). And don't you dare, under any circumstances, tell someone else they're wrong (unless we think you're wrong). Because if you do, we'll assault you with our loud, obnoxious voices and our massive social media campaign. We'll hashtag your backside into the ground, just before we move on to the next social outrage for the week.

Sigh...I have some hope in the next generation, at least the few that are being raised properly. Knowing that they will have little competition in the future for the good jobs because there is no really great talent to compete against. I fear we're going to have to fall a bit further before enough people wake up and smell the stupid, then start doing something about it.

America won't be here then if people don't do something now to reverse the trend it is trapped in.
