Hello so I have a rifle I'm trying to sell and all the legislature is confusing about exactly what I have to do when selling a rifle in WA to not break any laws. For info I am Active duty because I believe that makes a difference if I sell between military members.

Private party transfers must be conducted through a FFL where the buyer submits to a background check. You can sell a rifle or shotgun to a non WA resident while in WA. Pistols must be transferred in the buyers state, unless on orders here in WA.

Ok, thank you. Is there anything extra I have to do if the gun isn't registered? I wasn't required to register it in the state I purchased it in, and I was told active duty didn't have to register guns they brought into WA.

No.....just go to a FFL dealer and have him take care of it.......you will be fine.

In WA there is de facto handgun registration. A pistol transfer form must accompany all handgun transfers. The State has all those forms buried somewhere in Olympia
