UK Cops Being Told to Treat Gun Owners Like Terrorists in Attempt to Discourage Gun Ownership

It’s amazing how many freedoms are taken away under the guise of “security” and terrorism concerns. The police union in the United Kingdom is now telling police to snoop on gun owners and secure their weapons using anti-terror laws.
The Association of Chief Police Officers’ (ACPO) has started a campaign for police to enter the homes of law abiding gun owners in order to keep tabs on their weapons and search their property. And while these actions are being called anti-terrorism campaigns it looks more like another attempt to discourage gun ownership for our friends across the sea.
Police in the UK are also calling on gun owners to rat each other out with any reports of “suspicious” activity. Of course, for anti-gunners just owning a gun at all is suspicious.
    According to shootinguk.co.uk,
Chief Constable Andy Marsh, the national policing lead for firearms and explosives licensing, called on the shooting community to lend its support to the new measures, saying: “The public and especially the shooting community can greatly assist the police in gathering intelligence and protecting our communities by being vigilant around firearms licensing. The shooting community is close, and will recognise sudden behavioural changes in fellow shooters that could cause concerns. However, they may not feel like they can act and the Crimestoppers hotline empowers people to voice concerns anonymously.”

He added: “If you are concerned that guns are being kept insecurely or notice signs that shooters may be vulnerable to criminal or terrorist groups or have shown sympathy towards extremist acts, please report it.”
Gun owners are being reassured that this is not an attempt to “catch” them and that any visit will have a “reasoned explanation”.
But some groups are not pushing back against this anti-gun agenda.
The Countryside Alliance has called ACPO’s campaign to target the legitimate shooting community over security concerns “unjustified and ill-judged”. The CA’s director of campaigns, Tim Bonner, said: “This campaign is exactly the sort of knee-jerk reaction to an unrelated problem that the Government had promised to avoid. It is unjustified and ill-judged, and will serve only to waste police resources and alienate a large and law abiding section of the community.
“The public appeal for information about certificate holders through Crimestoppers will encourage malicious complaints and the link made with radicalisation and terrorism is insulting and ridiculous. We have not been made aware of a single recent incident in which a licence holder has misused a firearm in pursuit of an extremist agenda.”

    What a horrible country.

Sadly with our biased media.. It's darn near to that point here.. OC or transfer firearms without a case into your vehicle before an afternoon at the range and suddenly cops show up because the hoplophobe next door saw a few firearms and thought you were about to go on a rampage.

Meanwhile we (the U.S.) push for rights and legal protection for nearly every other group under the sun except for firearm owners.

Canada usually follows suit. The UK has been a joke for decades now. They do not deserve freedom and they really do not have it when you look closely. Why the he77 do you think we kicked them out of America in the 1770'0s LOL. They don't change. Soon they will be all Islamics anyway. they opened those flood gates too.

We are terrorists to traitors of the free world.
I will proudly say so. If you wish to gain power, abuse that power, crap on our constitution and then call me a terrorist I would take that as a compliment.

In things like "police state" policies, where the UK leads the USA will follow - sometimes closely. Or try to.

The founding pilgrims left that country for good reason centuries ago. Built upon a Monarchy and whatever preceded it they found freedom and would not let go of it based upon what is true to mans inherent self.

Why go back?, heck I usually do not even look at this stuff. Not to be disrespectful to the Original Thread Poster.
