The economy is on the rise. Unemployment is going down, earnings are going up.

Note that things indeed looked pretty bad from 2008 - 2010. A JG has pointed out, yet other refuse to accept, this cannot be faulted to president Obama. When you start your shift in the kitchen, and the guy ending his shift just gives you a turd and 2 pieces of bread, best you can do is make a turd sandwich. Obama, as much as I know you all want to deny it, is turning things around.

As for this AWB, we'll see it when (if) it actually happens.

Tell it to the 12 million still looking for a job and the millions your gov does not count.

The national debt is threatening to deny the grandchildren any quality of life as the probability of debt slavery looms in front of us, and for what? <broken link removed>

President Reagan seemed to constantly talk about freedom, for some odd reason Mr. Obama seems unfamiliar with the word. Poverty does not contribute to liberty, poverty enslaves. Look at this! U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time

Note the individual debt responsibility near the bottom, $1,061,206! Just send a check liberals, get it over with!

I didn't vote for Mr. Obama, but I get to suffer the results! I'm angry, because I and a lot of others told you so.

But I'm sure you liberals will line up to turn over your guns.

Well I dunno if this is what you were alluding to or what, but it seems that you blame the current President, and Liberals and Democrats in general for the state of the national debt.

Im just gonna lay out the facts and let you come to your own conclusions. When Carter left office, the national debt was $900 billion. When Reagan left office, the debt was $2.6 trillion. Clinton did technically raise the dollar amount of the national debt, but as a percentage of GDP, the national went down.

George W Bush got in office. He thought the last four years of paying down the national debt as a percentage of GDP was "bad policy" and he passed several tax cuts without any spending cuts, or any tax increases elsewhere. He also passed several new spending policies that were not in place prior to him taking office, such as two war's and an unfunded Medicare Part D. He took $5.7 trillion national debt and left office with about $11 trillion in debt as well as signing off on the 2009 budget which had a $1.6 trillion deficit in that one year alone.

I mean really the Conservative President's in my lifetime, have hardly been the solution to our debt problem's but one of the main causes. Between 1981 and 2009 we had 20 years of Republican President's in the White House and they signed off on 20 deficit ridden budgets during their tenures.

The only equivalent I can think, of voting for a Republican President when your main concern is the national debt, based on their track record in my lifetime and the years before I was born, would be to make a large wager on The Generals and against The Harlem Globe Trotter's, as if even though the General's have lost the last 5,000 games in a row against the Harlem Globe Trotter's, they should be due for a win this time.

Also Romney's tax plan was often cited for using fantasy mathematic's in his explanation of how he wouldn't raise the national debt drastically. It was one of the main reason's I voted against him. I didn't vote FOR Obama, I voted AGAINST Romney, due to a complete lack of fiscal competence when I looked over his tax plan and other experts in budgets did too.

I really like how every democrat that cites the Clinton surplus and GDP growth always leaving out conviently that it was house republicans that forced Clinton between interns to balance the dam budget. How easy it is for dems today to just ignore our dept mostly from liberal polices all in the name of demonizing rich people and picking winners and losers. Jim bob try and look at both sides to get the results you like to brag about.

Yes lets all sip cocoa and sing kumbya while the country we built crumbles around us with a leader drunk with power at the helm.
Eventually we'll have to take it back but oh well. The founders knew it would happen from time to time.

Im willing to debate this post with you. Between 2003-2007 we had a Republican led House, Senate, and White House. They had 4 years where Democrats were in the minority in both houses and a Republican in the White House, not to mention they had a decent economy to boot during those years. The Republican's STILL failed to balance the budget even when they had total control.

Also Prior to Clinton the last President to pay down the debt was also a Democrat, President Carter. The lowest the Post-WWII debt ever got in the last 67 years was during Carter's tenure as President.

Really if you wanted to pay down the debt, lets throw out what doesn't work and keep what work's. Bush tax rates, particularly the ones for the wealthy, produce next to no economic growth and is essentially spending money. If you want to begin to stand a chance to pay down the debt, you have to throw those out, those are essentially the main cause of the debt in the last 12 years. Tax cuts for the wealthy doesn't really accomplish much except income/wealth inequality, increases in poverty, and a plutocratic style economy, a 1% economy if you will.

Lets look at great President's when it came to paying down the debt. Eisenhower was the last Republican President to do a great job at paying down the debt (Nixon and Ford more or less treaded water, didn't make things worse, nor too much better, but that's still better than racking up the debt) His top marginal tax rate was 94%. By today's standard's people would think he was some kind of bomb throwing pinko liberal communist with a tax rate like that, but in fact, he WAS fighting communism even with that tax rate in place! Kennedy, Truman, LBJ, Carter, and Eisenhower all did a lot to pay down the WWII debt. We didn't really have debt problem's until Reagan got in office.

George Bush Sr. A man I now have a high opinion with after being governed by his son, didn't call Reaganomic's "Voodoo economic's" for nothing. It doesn't work!

I promised my Republican friend's that I would vote for Romney if I became a billionaire by election day, and I intended to keep that promise because at that wealth level, that was when his economic policies were going to directly benefit me. He's a plutocrat, and when you get into the wealthiest 1%, thats when a plutocratic politician's policies begin to benefit you, otherwise they just screw you over if you aren't in the wealthiest 1%. Unfortunately I never made it to that wealth level by the time election day hit (actually I was about $1,000,000,000 shy of $1 billion on election day).

after much soul searching I voted for Romney. the first and probably the last time voting for a republican. seems like everybody i know are pro romney, how the hell if everybody we know hates O-bummer. how \\

did he get re-elected?

For one it can be hard to unseat an incumbent President.

Some of the Romney supporter's were offensive in their depiction's of a sitting President. Calling him a Muslim Kenyan Socialist Communist Illegal Immigrant, hanging empty chairs in a reference to the lynching's of black people during the Post Civil War period, off of trees. Liberal media is quick to exploit overtly offensive displays of hatred towards the current President and first black president (he's also half-white though which escapes a lot of people's minds) because it drives away middle of the road voters from being associated with those people.

Demographics changes. Really Romney didn't get an increased amount of support of white voter's nor did Obama lose a large percentage of White voter's if you compared the election of 2012 to 2004 with John Kerry. However there has been some fundamental demographic shifts in the electorate as minorities are making larger portions of the electorate, At one point Romney was polling 0% with African American's and Latino's have been quicker to vote for Democrat's more often than Republican's ever since the 2004 election.

The Right wing in this country went much further to the right than in past election's. This also alienate's voters, especially middle of the road voter's who aren't hardcore right wingers. Also the swing state's are more important than any other state in a Presidential Election.

You could live in Wyoming and everyone around you that you know is a Republican. You could get the impression that it's going to be a good year for a Republican to win the Presidency, but fact of the matter is your state is only 3 electoral votes whether Romney gets 51% of the electorate or 99%. The Democrat's did a better job at getting out the vote in swing states and one S. Carolina Senator complained that there wasn't enough angry white people anymore to win elections consistently.

they will still have their head up there arss and will complain Romney already signed a gun ban then try and change the subject.

The only reason the unemployment figures have fallen is because they quit counting people who quit looking and went back to school. Add those in and it hasn't gone anywhere but back up.
