At age 68 with 2 concussions since 2005 and severe myopia I really can't afford to get hit in the head, and with rheumatic and osteoarthritis making it hard to just walk sometimes running away or going mano-a-mano with some 25 year old stud who likes to fight just aren't viable options. I don't wear sports regalia or display ideological bumper stickers on my vehicles and I'm polite to all and sundry. I don't carry a gun to teach manners to some cretin who gave me the finger. I carry it (or them) to prevent vicious oafs from harming me or my loved ones.

I have some arthritis in my hands,nothing major and you would more likely hurt your hand hitting me in the head but I still don't plan on any hand to hand combat with anyone. Even if they are a old fart like me
