A magnum barrel (3") does not always mean a magnum reciever. Check reciever for an "M" prefix to the serial number, meaning Magnum. Check that the shell stops for the magazine are properly staked in place, remove trigger group, if the stops fall out the gun will work but it is inconvenient and difficult to reassemble.

can't think of anything else, the 870 is at the pinnacle of pump gun development, a darn good choice.

Yeah I spell before i think and im alittle dislexic, thanks will look at that! the gun im looking at can take 23/4 and 3 inch
