The local cops won't do anything they have been told to stand down on the homeless.
I would call the game warden.
Fish and game .
If he is homeless and fishing with out a license.
They better do something.
Or nobody should have to buy a license.
Call the media also .
Kiro the guy who did the SEATTLE IS DIEING.
thing.

P.S. removed.

Take the dog away and retrain him to attack homeless thugs .I'm sure after a few good meals and a warm rug to sleep on he will Change his alliance. He will be a new fishing partner.

Alexx1401,

The term for the soon to be booted out of his domicile is 'malingerer' - he then expects society to provide him aid and comfort.

Perhaps, assisted suicide would help as he obviously hates life.

That might work too.
People for get a mean dog that will attach people is considered a deadly wepon.
If this guy is walking around useing the dog to threaten people.
It's the same as a knife or gun . baseball bat.
That's what i should have said.

Many thanks to Taco Lean. I saw that article in Arfcom many moons ago and could not find it again.

My Plan B is a cane, for which I have a prescription.
1) Jab solar plexus
2) Try to push the tip through to his spine with body weight behind it.
Probably better than a hard swing at the head as far as the continuum of violence goes.
"I was just pushing him away from me."
Like the OP I am old and decrepit and can't fight or run. I know I look like a target, but anybody who picks me has failed Victim Selection 101.

If you want to rely on a cane for protection I would buy one made for this. Cold Steel among others make canes for this. I use one when I walk my dogs. You can buy them on line in a lot of places such as Amazon.

Cold Steel does make some cool canes, but I don't rely on my cane for protection. I really do use it for walking when I need it, so having it cut to the right length is important. I bought a stock cane @ Coastal Hdwe. and cut it to fit. for $17 it was a great buy. For only the most serious inter-personal conflict resolution I carry a Steyr S9 with 2 extra mags.

The one I bought made by Cold Steel is one you cut to fit you. It's made out of some kind of plastic but it quite hefty and seems to be indestructible. Handle comes to something of a point that if you wish you could take a file to and really make a good weapon out of.

The Socialist/Marxist voters of Portland will never vote to fix the problem because they simply don't care, unless there's a chance to use the homeless in a scheme to grift the taxpayers out of more money which the WokeScolds will eagerly support.

^^^Excellent, concise summary of how the game is played, for pretty much all policy.

Never let a good crisis go to waste.

Maybe get a sword cane? IMO it is good to have a continuum of force options... starting with pepper spray. IMO if one is going to use a stick type weapon, one should be well trained on effective use. Overhead strikes are known to be easy to block, and asps are notoriously ineffective. I think your idea of strikes with the end of the cane is probably good canefu. Maybe better if it had a removeable tip that uncovered a pointy end?

Perhaps my final addition to this thread; I hope so.

As I mentioned before, the Parks Director said she would get back to me. She did, telling me that the local police had searched the park and didn't find any campsite; in fact, they searched twice. I told her that perhaps the homeless camp site was not in the area that I was told.

Two days later, she informed me that a more thorough search had been conducted and a/the site had been found and that the police were moving the homeless out of the area, good.

Seems to me that the authorities did a quite good job and contacting them was beneficial. I certainly hope the homeless kid(s) gets some help via the police or others; I think my efforts might have helped him/them (homeless) in the long-run, I hope so. And, we'll see...

Thanks to all that left a posting; I appreciate your contributions.

It is great the locals actually did chase them off. Of course if it was a comfortable place for them chances are they will soon be back. We can hope not but, be watchful next time you head out there.

They will be back unless they get pressure to move on.
If the public and the police don't pressure them they will stay.
We just had a thing here on my street last week .
The lady walked behind the guy taking stuff from the back of her truck.
I was not home .
But my brother followed him .
The lady called the cops .
My brother followed him two blocks .
He didn't steal anything worth a lot of money .
Or anything at all .
But he was looking for something to steal..
But the fact that cops were called and my brother followed him might keep him away.

The city if Anacortes PD is pretty good about checking people.
Some might call it harrasment.
But I call it DOING THERE JOB.

You don't live on this STREET.
And you don't have ID MOVE ON .

LOL BEFORE YOU RUN INTO EPS AT 03:00
LOL I WON'T BE SO NICE.

PS the lady is my neighbor two houses away.

Good for you, your brother, and the lady. We need to be diligent to protect ourselves and others. Working with the PD is a good thing...they need our help. Identify the thugs to them..or like you say...the thugs will be back.

I'm sorry that are was ruined for you.

There is a lot of sage advice on this thread.

The only downside is when you were asked about carrying. The response is "in a time of need, only myself and the fool at the other end will know how I decide to defend myself. Hands are very deadly."

They were looking for weak victims.

These weak ones travel in packs as you observed and are quick to mooch from the willing.

I won't get into story time but I have seen travelers mooch like you can't imagine and turn violent when confronted and told no.

Lol this guy didn't think about turning on my brother.
Mmmmm he's not a bad guy but he was a bad guy at one time .
My brother has been to prison a few times.
One time I was the one who sent him there .
Alcohol is his PROBLEM.
And dumb $#!+ Gets him in TROUBLE.
He just got off parole.
And stays with his girlfriend.
And some times at my house .
Got a job.
And is doing pretty good.
I would feel sorry for the drug addict homeless person that tried to test him in the street.
Lol .
Lol lol HEHEE
