I NEVER ever met one gun person who supported or really WANTED to buy a so called smart gun!

I do not support smart guns because I think of them as DUMB GUNS and failing you when you NEED THEM TO WORK PROPERLY.

I would NEVER ever buy a so called dumb gun aka a smart gun.

They remind me of COMMON SENSE GUN LAWS coming out of a SOCIALIST LOVING man's or woman's MOUTH who remains CLUELESS in the RKBA issue.

They remind me of many Ds and Rs when it comes to gun laws, gun bans, gun part bans, etc.

I should ADD this that IF someone chooses to buy one - more power to them. Whatever trips their trigger! Free country and all - for now or somewhat 'free'.

Don't CRY when it fails you and you end up hurt or dead since it did not work properly!

I don't want a LAW that requires only owning a smart gun and NO other type of gun on the local, state or federal level.

You know, we have a card reader to enter my work site. Granted, it gets used thousands of times each day but many times there is a gaurd posted at the entrance because the reader is broken. And that isn't even looking for prints.

Heaven forbid someone shooting a gun in cold weather wearing gloves. Sorry son, you can't use your gun Nov-May.

I guess its all in the phrasing of the survey. I can see 80% of gun owners supporting the availability of smarties from a free market standpoint but I'd be really surprised to see even a small fraction relying on one for personal defense. It's a feel-good novelty at this point.
So here's how I see the slippery slope going over time...
1. Smart guns are encouraged/incentivized.
2. Smart guns become the only legal option.
3. Smart guns become linked to "the system".
4. Someone hacks "the system" and uses one for evil deeds.
5. Smart guns deemed dangerous and made illegal. The end.
Moral of the story? Technology and legislation still no match for man's determination and resourcefulness.

You've got people with "smart" phones walking off cliffs or out in front of traffic, just imagine all the shenanigans which will ensue with "smart" guns. People are getting even more stupid (didn't know it was possible but apparently it is) with their dependency on these "smart" devices, pretty sad really. Devolution in full swing.

People always tout new tech. Self driving ubers killed, a self driving car killed.

Technology can and will fail. Its man made and anyone who suggest technology can be foolproof is only kidding themselves.

A smart gun should know where I want to put the bullet and deliver it accordingly. Anything else is a waste of my time.
