In the 18th and 19th century...
It was pretty common to see "Andy54Hawken his rifle " or "Ilikegunspdx his horn " on firearms , powderhorns , knives etc....

Spelling and Grammer was also very loose to say the least.

But yes...it could be that someone is saying that Bill Willyums once owned this rifle...for sure.
As well as I really couldn't say when that was craved into the stock..
1850...1950....whenever....
And it is never wise to make a concrete statement about a firearm based only on one aspect of the firearm.
( not saying that you or I are doing this )

Ahh I didn't know that. Interesting.

Been enjoying target shooting with these two .45s as of late. Webley Ⅵ and Smith & Wesson 25—2. Sunny days, pretty flowers, and the satisfying sound of a 230-grain slug landing. :s0155:

Remington Model 514, barrel code TT, made in 1948. First year the Model 514 was sold. I like a single shot .22 for times when I don't want to fuss around with a magazine. Cost new in early 1950's was $15.40. Being an early example, it has the trigger guard with both screws outside the trigger area. Around 1954, they changed the trigger guard design where the front screw hole loops around and is inside the trigger area.

I have three Remington bolt action .22 rifles:

Model 341-P made in 1936, tube magazine
Model 514 (above), 1948, single shot
Model 511-X made in 1966, box magazine

Hello,
Before I list my collection, I just wanted to say Thank You. This site and the firearms community has just been awesome for a newbie. Beginning of the year I was not able to play golf anymore, so I needed a new hobby. Come to find out I by accident fell into firearms. This could not be anymore fun, and true enjoyment, plus the group of people associated with the firearms are just amazing. I have had many hobbies throughout the years, but never have had more polite and willing to help people in my life. The amount of guidence I have received has been amazing, so Thank you!!!!
