See, there is a normal human behavior - to protect the stuff you've earned. Selfish, but normal. What makes me wonder, why do so many educated, successful people in urban environments lean towards socialist trends though. They already have all the stuff you have, or perhaps even more, yet they want to give up some of theirs, and some of yours, for the "good of the society". I mean there is that stereotype on this forum that only people who have nothing, who are lazy and useless that vote for the entitlements, vote for Democrats and people like Obama. But in my experience that is not the case (or not entirely the case). Ideas ?

Unfortunately they are naive and don't understand that the path to prosperity is not through entitlements, it's through self sufficiency. There are those who truly are needy, aka they are physically or mentally handicapped. I actually think that the people who vote Obama are more of the second generation middle class who never experienced any hardship at all, their parents bought them everything they wanted, they went to colleges, colleges taught the Liberal agenda, they then vote for Obama out of delusion. What I don't understand is why they, in the face of overwhelming indicators don't see Obama as a stooge for the worlds elite.

I always ask the same question... Who has Obama helped? It sure isn't the poor, hell he just cut foodstamp benefits.

The difference with me is I grew up poor, very poor, in what people used to refer to as the Ghetto of Portland. I've seen the mistakes of the welfare trap, I am proof of the power of self sufficiency. As a side note I grew up with a mother that was and is an Ultra Liberal and the words Conservative and Republican were curse words in our house but here I am a Conservative.
